The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Looks like an interesting event. It's residential (in The Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton) but the host hotel is sold out. Geek night regular Julian Seager (Guardians of the Galaxy...) will be there. Oh, and Professor Elemental is due to present the cabaret but it's unclear if he's playing a gig.

It's a proper convention (with actual stuff of value included in the price of some tickets) so it's "unreasonably expensive" for people used to the normal UK shows: http://www.sfbevents.com/sfball/tickettypes.php - However, since I plan to hit the rock clubs in Southampton on Saturday night, I'll probably be going for £5 day entry tickets only. Read about the ticket types and make your own choice.

Kai and I have rooms booked in the nearby Holiday Inn on West Quay Road:

Holiday Inn Room 1: Two single beds - Booked for Fri/Sat night
Pug50
Skapunkninja

Holiday Inn Room 2: Two single beds - Booked for Fri/Sat night
Spiderpool
Bazfish

But, we only found out that the Holiday Inn had a hot tub after we booked non-refundable rooms in the Novotel up the road (which only has a pool). So each of Kai and myself also have a room going in the Novotel West Quay Road:

Novotel Room 1: Queen bed plus a sofa bed - Booked for Fri/Sat night
<open>
<open>
...

Novotel Room 2: Queen bed plus a sofa bed - Booked for Fri/Sat night
<open>
<open>
...

That's correct. I just checked - Novotel rooms are £130 each room for the entirety of the period they are booked for.

Any ideas on the parking at or near the hotel?

There are a few car parks around, hotel and non-hotel. I think they are all pay.

Anyone after the hotel rooms before I start to offer them to other people?

We won't be leaving Rdg until around 0900 as we'll have to collect my sons and there's no way two teenagers are going to be ready before then...
so will see everyone there, after any heavy lifting has been done :)

Cheers,
Doug

We're staying in both the Holiday Inn across the road from the host hotel, and the Novotel a little way down the road.

Since we are making an evening of it for Friday night, I can't guarantee we'll be rapping on the door of the venue at 8am ...

Give me a call or a message on Facebook when you're in area.

I have another question;

Do I put on my Armour before going into the Building or do I change inside?

We don't have any area to change inside (other than toilets, I guess), so it's up to you. If the time lines up, you can change in one of the rooms in Holiday Inn - that's my plan.

The event has a relatively relaxed weapons policy but rifle would need to be covered up outside (and possibly in the lobby of the hotel, depending how much the convention "takes over" the venue).

With regards of the PR, I had already thought of that. I will bring in it in a Rifle bag

Hi

As anybody got any photos of the event?

I remember having our photos taken outside of the event by someone in ST uniform (female). Anybody know who she was?
