Post subject:  CANCELLED: UKCM Summer Holiday Alicante - 2-8th July 2014
CANCELLED


Fly out on the morning of Wedneday 2nd July to Alicante, fly back to UK on Tuesday 8th July.
(Or any subset of those dates that you can manage)

Scapey's mother has a holiday apartment near Alicante here: http://goo.gl/maps/uei52
Accommodation costs will be negligible (I've been told £40 per 24 hours for the whole apartment)

I am unsure what the numbers are going to be but I plan to hire a minivan at the airport.


Flights are currently £115 from London.

The question is, who wants to come with me?

A big apartment / villa somewhere foreign preferably (even more foreign then Blackpool anyway)

Spain would be a laugh.

I suppose I should have said: I want to try to avoid hotels, and go for big villa/apartment or maybe stationary caravans (if cheap).

Have you considered places like jersey, or the south of France, you can get chateauxs that can hold like 15 people and have pools. jersey is at least not on uk mainland and can be warm and is pretty good to go out for a drink, its nowhere near as expensive as switzerland (prices are a joke), jeresy doesnt seem to have as many "undesireables" as spain and ibiza and that does lol.

I'll follow anywhere. Doubt America is a go for me next year anyway. Looking at buying a 125cc motorbike anyway.

Yeah not allot of people do, which is why it can be a good get away, and its only a three hour boat journey from southampton.

So, I need to keep momentum on this.

Choices so far:

UK: Blackpool, Skegness, Swindon ...
Spain: Alacante, Malaga, Ibiza ...
Eastern Europe somewhere
Channel Islands.


I have to admit, I like the idea of Channel Islands etc.

Channel Islands annual weather seems to suggest June hits "highs" of 16*C.... If we're taking time off work and paying to travel abroad, my vote would be for somewhere a bit hotter. Especially if the plan is to get drunk by the pool every day! For comparison only, Canary Islands average around 20-22*C in June... We could get drunk and cold in the UK.

As lovely as it is spending time with you lot, which has become an all to rare thing for us...

Is Switzerland and the Giger museum completely off the table? I doubt every bar there charges 10 Euros for a beer.

Sorry, but we are too much of the culture vultures. Alacante, Malaga, Ibiza would bore us rigid (and have done). If travelling, I want to see more than the side of the pool and the bottom of a glass.

Possibly settling into my grey hairs and approaching 40 temperament...

I performed at the basel tattoo in switzerland and we searched high and low for a bar that had even on single drink for less than 9euros.....mission failed im afraid, even the LIDL was a fortune, switzerland is expensive..no two ways about it....id still go back :-).
