The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

It's nearly that time again!
I've sent a few emails and checked out all the normal shows, and it looks like there are no events going on around Xmas this year :(

So, what are peoples thoughts? When's the best time to get together for a piss up? Any ideas on location? Anything interesting we could do?

Discuss...

Data and I were talking about this at the weekend. The general idea was somewhere along the south coast, either the Portsmouth/Havant area or Southampton. I think Steve was going to look into hotels and see what's available.

This is also going to run double duty as Bri's 40th birthday party so my vote is for the weekend of the 8th/9th December. ;)

We could always do another movie night at my place? Though we'll have to keep Baz away from the cheese triangles. ;)

I've got crash space as well if people want to do this on the cheap.

Me and Gareth were going to sort this out as we been talking about it for a few week's.

There could be a show at the being of December for Sega at the Gaget show but never is confimed for that one.

After seeing Glenn I want to have the show close to him, Gareth siad he is fine to drive the Allen's to Southhampton way but need to know what condition Glenn is in. I hope all of us together will help him out with his memory.

I remember the last Christmas party we did some time ago with the very strong colate cake. But I can not remember the place, time or the pub.

Thank you Vicky and Brian in floor space and also Rich and Gina (Did Vicky or Rich ask before posting????)

Need to sort out hotels and plus a good place to have food.

I want this to be a cheap as possible to get everyone in the UKCM to be there. So I think it would be great, this include new people also that have just joined the UKCM, but be warned!!!

Cheer's Steve

I was going to set a date, and then confirm a location closer to the time, mainly depending on Glenn's health and location.

I will start another thread when I have some time to do the legwork.

The Gadget Show is the week before. I know because Bri's going.

As much as I'd love him to be there, I don't think Glenn will be up for a UKCM party for a long time.

If you're looking for cheap hotels, we have an Etap hotel in Portsmouth. It'll do at a pinch but it's nowhere near any decent pubs or restaurants.

I'll be sure to tell Glenn and Julia that.

I was kinda hoping to have this organised before posting about it. But I'll just leave it to the discussion committee now. ;)

Ok G, nice one
Let us know what you get planned. December is always tricky when you've got kids to work around, so the sooner we know what's happening, the better :)

I'm only going by what Julia has told me and the fact that you said yesterday that Glenn still had long hospital stay ahead of him. It's not that long until December. But if they think he's going to be well enough to come then that's brilliant news!

It wasn't the last Xmas party - the last one was in Orpington. However, I remember that chocolate cake but nothing more too - was that in Portsmouth, after a drop in Bitterne Leisure Centre?

I'm definitely keen, although I'm away on the 8th so ideally a different date would be best, but I will keep my eye on this thread!

That's the one, Vicky! So it's closer to Southampton. Are people happy for that to be an option?

I know the last one Gareth was around ADC place and the great movies we watched. Who could forget that one.

Yes Vicky it starting to come back to me now. I went to the wrong hotel at first. Just check me e-mails and that was 2008 on the 12-14 December 2008. So I guess time does fly by. Also just by looking at Google earth I remember the T-bird car park with the carbon firbre hood and the pub were aliens had christmas hat's.

Just off the M3 so that better for me as I can go A303 and down the M3 so easy to get to.

Ok it's just dates now and need to book hotel room's. Ok I just looked at the moment saver rooms start from £39.50 with £4.05 for a breakfast bag each night. This is for December dates and plus you can admend the date if change 5 day before at £5.

Just to be clear, so that people don't get the wrong idea, there isn't another 'event', what Kevin is referring to is my birthday which is that weekend. It's a few other friends and I invited Darren, who comes up once a month anyway, and Andy Gardner who I know he lives close to and Harry, who I haven't seen in a while. Kevin pm'd me out of the blue and since I haven't seen him in ages, and knowing he lives close to Darren as well, I invited him along with them. I'm not going to have a UKCM party every year, obviously, and this year I wanted to get some of my other friends around. I had planned to invite more peeps from the board, at a later date, as Kevin will testify, because I haven't had confirmation from everyone about the 8th anyhow. 8)

So, who would be up for a meal and a pissup on the Saturday 15th December, somewhere between the Thames and the channel?

Would a Harvester near Southampton be a crazy/dull idea?
