The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello Guys and Gals,

One or two of you were enquiring, so I thought I'd better slap down the appropriate invite before your busy schedule gets busy.

Last July was an absolute hoot for all the visitors to Woodhorn with the Predator, Alien, Marines, Lab assistant and Doctor... you know who you are and it's nice to be friends on facebook. It was also great to see you mixing so well with the pesky Daleks, Stormtroopers and Darth Vader. The kids and all involved loved the Alien Hunt (my 8 year old son was ecstatic getting certified!)

Thanks for last year Rex, Claymore, Steve, Tia, Mark, Mike,

One of out Star Wars Garrison guys has recently joined up... haven't you John? And I'm in the process of putting a Nostromo outfit together... I can't afford a pulse rifle QUITE yet... but I'll get there... Though I might build myself a flamethrower.

So, it's happening again next year on the 21st July 2013. I hope all the gang will return and bring a few new friends for us to meet.

Location details :-

DATE : 21st July 2013
PLACE : Woodhorn Museum and Archives, Queen Elizabeth II Country Park, Ashington, Northumberland, NE63 9YF.
MAP LOCATION : http://www.google.com/maps?q=ne63+9yf&hl=en&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=53.961216,123.222656&hnear=NE63+9YF,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=16
TIME : 10:00 TO 17:00
DETAILS : More to follow

We had nearly 800 people through the gates over the day and they all left with either smiling faces or scared ones, but they all said they'd be back next year. Confusing. :)\

So, I'll post activity details closer to the date but expect similar bug hunts, stormtrooper sessions, charity raffles, treasure hunts and collections and this year we'll see if we can tuck that alien tail away so Abi can ride the train.

Prepare to drop.

Great. In the new year I'll be working on more details of the days activities.

Apart from an Alien hunt any ideas for some additional fun?

Hello all,

Sorry it's been a while. I've recently had meetings to sort out the day.

As last year we've got loads of costumers coming down and it would be great to see you guys again.

Food and drink will be provided as last year and we've got the same building again for changing facilities. The more the merrier.

Alien Hunt was brilliant last year and if you are up for it we'd be very grateful, the kids loved it. I was thinking possibly letting the Alien loose twice, so we can lessen the numbers each time.

If anyone want Dalek driving duty, you are more than welcome. We've also got the www.scifair.co.uk in one of the buildings that housed the exhibition and also in the same building we've got the talks inside, so there won't be any chance of a marquee blowing away. Coz we're not having one.

This year we'll have a stormtrooper firing range so the kids/anyone else can take Nerf pot shots at stormtroopers and there will be a tombola instead of a raffle so people have the opportunity to win prizes throughout the day. All the usual talks will be on with the Star Wars and Dalek lot... I was also thinking of a 'How to Train your Alien' if you are up for it. Might be fun.

Hope you are all still up for it. I'll check back soon with a breakdown of the day.

Hello my friends...

Well it's nearly here and the plans and just about set in concrete. Here's the running order for the day....

10:00 Invasion Begins
11:00 Dalek Masterclass
Location: The Workshop
12:00 Stormtrooper Academy
Location: The Workshop
13:00 Alien Bug Hunt
Location : Workshop Entrance
14:00 Steve Jackson Games Demo
Location: The Workshop
14:30 Tardis Key?
Location: The Tardis
15:00 Alien Bug Hunt
Location: The Workshop
15:30 Galaxy Challenge and Chat
Location: The Workshop
16:00 Close

I've put the bug hunts at 13:00 and 15:00 so we can have smaller numbers, and they will be free ticketed events so we can make sure there aren't too many following the crew.

All of the chats will be indoors with no tent this time. I do have a backup in case we lose an event "How to get into costuming" which any an all could participate if needed. Or we could even slot it in somewhere if things run a little slack.

I do hope to see you all again, and new visitors. It's should be a good day.

Beavering away indeed. I need to take a couple of extra trips up to Woodhorn to make sure things are in place. The Bug Hunt seems to be sorted. As we've limited the hunts to 2 slots in the day and 20 participants at a time I've created some tickets to hand out so we don't get too many.

I think it's going to be a fun day again. Lots of families, lots of activities and hopefully tolerable weather.

Rex, I'm sure you'll be out and about Woodhorn until you escape. at 13:00 and 15:00 :D

Lunch will be served in three sessions so it doesn't all get eaten by the first visitors. You'll get tickets on the day.

See you sunday. Thanks alot everyone that can make it.

Down, clear and rested. Great event as usual.

Really enjoyed being Prof Carrabus (2 'R's; theres another Carabus at Weyland Yutani with one r. He has no sense of humour at all)

Abi, its too hot out, less running away!

Down & Clear, also still a little moist (damn I hate this heat).

It was my first drop with you guys and I had a amazing time, great meeting Bolty, Stew, Rex & Mark
Although I only made one bug hunt due to prior anrangments with the organisers for me to be in the black suit, but the second one was a blast.

I will definatly try my best to get to more drops.:D

Cheers guys
