Hi again guys! Some thing else happening up here! The woodhorn museaum in Ashington, Northumberland currently have an exibition that's SCI-FI based and has various props from films like ALIEN, ALIENS, Doctor who n starwars, I was wondering if anyone would be intrested in perhaps contacting the exhibition runners to get us to maybe do some on sight work over a weekend, perhaps during the summer, you can see the article here:

http://www.experiencewoodhorn.com/invasion!/

I thought this would be a good opportunity for us to scare some more of the public and maybe get some decent film footage of the UKCM interacting with a public environment.

Heads up - We've just been invited to this:

The Intergalactic Invasion at Woodhorn Colliery Museum on Sunday 22nd July

There's going to be a number of Daleks, Star Wars characters, a Cyberman or two, Klingons and other things.
The organisers would be "chuffed to bits if a Predator or two or a Xeno or colonial marines would show up."

They're offered changing facilities, and food and drinks, and may be able to put something towards petrol as well.

Who's interested?

Let me introduce myself, I help run the Northern Charity Daleks a small band of Dalek builders and charity fundraisers. I'm also a member of the 99th Garrison a Star Wars charity group... my weekends get interesting sometimes. :)

Since 2010 we've run an annual Dalek event featuring a number of Daleks, Cybermen, Vampires, Doctors, props and we bring our own Tardis to transport the lot. :)

This year on 22nd July to celebrate the Woodhorn Invasion Exhibition and to raise a tonne of money for charity we're holding an Intergalactic Invasion at Woodhorn near Ashington, Northumberland.

We've got very close connections with the nice people at Woodhorn, and they give us full run of the place to entertain the masses that attend our now annual event. Woodhorn itself is a huge site and we can have full use of a few of their buildings for various activities. Both inside and out.

The great thing about the site itself it that it will be a free event for the visitors, so all the money collected in the buckets goes towards the charities. This will include a Wheelchair Accessible carriage fund and other charities to be confirmed closer to the event. Visitors only have to pay a small parking fee and if they want the maximum charge for the exhibition is £3.95 but that is not compulsery on the day.

In 2010 we had about 1100 visitors on the day and in 2011 we had about 800. We can only do unique Dalek events for so long, so this year we're throwing it out to costume groups to come along and introduce themselves to the expectant visitors. We're expecting a mix of Scifi film and TV including Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek and Stargate plus more.
The exhibiton contains props and models of Aliens and Predators including a full size alien soldier.

Activities planned for the day include :-
* Treasure Hunt - Woodhorn is a mining museum, and to encourage visitors to experience the museum as well as the scifi. I create a treasure hunt were entrants wander throughout the museum finding out answers to questions like "What was the name of the last pit pony?" and "How much does the storage tank hold?"
* Narrow Gauge Railway - On site is a narrow gauge railway with trips around the QE lake. I normally tie something in with the treasure hunt on this one too. The trains will be renamed for the day. The main running train will be called the Millenium Falcon and the secondary will be The Twilight for the Clone Wars kids. The station in Woodhorn itself will be renamed Mos Eisley Spaceport and the far station will be Toshi Station. We're also called the trip the Kessel Run for fun. That way the kids will be able to take the Millenium Falcon from Mos Eisley spaceport along the Kessel Run to Toshi station. Could be Rura Penthe.
* Raffle - Raffle tickets are sold throughout the day and we get many donations from local businesses plus Scifi related prizes. We're planning on some signed photos and props for this year.
* Dealers Tables - There will be a number of local dealers selling merchandise.
* Cantina - The Cafe will be renamed for the day. We're planning on selling more interesting food like Klingon Gagh and Aunt Beru's Blue Milk. Troops and aliens will be welcome to take a break here to add to the atmosphere. Even suggestions for burgers like Wookiee Cookies or Grilled Greedo.
* Star Wars Seminar - How to be a Stormtrooper
* Dalek Building - How to build a Dalek
* Audience with... - In the past kids have asked the Daleks various questions with various silly responses.
* SY-QI - A bit like QI for Scifi geeks. Who is the ulitmate power in the universe? Darth and his stormtroopers? Davros and his Daleks or Colonial Marines? :)
* Find the Tardis Key - The Doctor has lost the key to the Tardis. Find it.
plus a few other activities.

The event is on the Woodhorn calendar and will be featured in literature sent out to libraries and regional centres come spring.

We're also expecting newspaper articles before and after the event for advertising and reporting as we've done in the past, and we're grateful to the staff at Woodhorn who let us organise a FREE (except for all the fundraising) and fun day.

This is our third year running an event at Woodhorn and I'm hoping it'll be the biggest ever.

Food, drinks and changing facilities will be provided throughout the day. Plus you'll get entry to their Invasion exhibition.

It would be great it you attend.

Post subject:  Re: Possible Drop : Intergalactic Invasion, Woodhorn, July 2

Hi guys and gals,

Good to hear there is some interest. We're currently collecting various prizes for the raffle and possible auction for the day. Loads of autographs including Game of Thrones, if you're into that.

So far they've had about 5000 visitors to the exhibition in the first few weeks and we're hoping for at least a 1000 visitors on the 22nd July for the day event as it's the first weekend of the summer holidays. It also coincides with the weekend of the Sunderland Airshow which is just down the coast, so regionally it'll be a busy weekend. It should be good fun.
