anyone up for it this year?

www.warandpeaceshow.com

more of a social event than a costumed drop, but still one of my favorat shows. one of the biggest military shows in the world, 3 nights of camping, bbqs, all night drinking, tanks, battles etc etc
theres even a few evening dances going on if you fancy getting spruced up :)

i'll be taking my jeep, so i can get people in for the exibitors rate of £30 for the whole weekend

My WW2 lot *might* be going in an official capacity.

But if they're not, then I have no real interest.
while they do have some nice aspects (like the shopping), there are better places to go to and hang out with friends at (Kelmarsh, Broadlands).

Every year, W&P becomes more and more of an outright fecking rip-off. Last year's debacle over the evening show was pretty much the last straw.

Last year, it was £7.50 for a single burger!

just bumping this up!

its a great little social event/camping trip! And to make it better the Cruxshadows are playing near me the night after (and anyone who's been to dragoncon knows how awesome they are) So if they want, people could head back to mine aftr W&P to go see them! :D

to be honest i'm not sure at the moment!! i dont think we are in with the aircav or rolling thunder due to some 'personailty clashes' lol, some of our guys are going down this saturday to put up a platoon tent so i'll find out where we are then, other than that look for the mutt with a 106 recoiless on it or the 1960's hondas some of the guys have got! believe it or not there was a small unit in nam banging around on hondas!!

Kelmarsh was cancelled last minute (after everyone had turned up, of course) due to heavy rain destroying the field (2' deep in some places). The parking area alone was a mess of mud and even 4x4s were having to be towed out.

Cannot do W&P now anyway, as we now have a rescue dog, who needs a lot of attention and would not cope with a public event.

The Kent Show (not held at the same place, but in the same bit of Kent) was washed out last week, with people advised not to bother turning up, as most of the fields were more mud than grass.

If we don't get a few days of warm sunshine before the weekend, check before travelling as it'll likely be the same.

ive got a few friends already on site, and its apparently a mud bath! vehicles have been banned from moving around the site, and alot of areas have been roped off :(

However, its apparently still 100% going ahead (according to organisers), and it looks like we may even get a couple of dry days!

Im still going, mud just adds to the uniform :) more than likely going to be leaving the jeep at home though. no point taking it all that way just to get stuck in the mud all weekend

the health and safety people are checking it out today to see if its ok for the public, if it is we have a recon going down on wednesday, if they say its ok we will go for the weekend, otherwise its a 1 day walkabout

the show is on but the conditions are seriously grim, we are going down but not displaying as our pitch is gone, so its beer and shopping only!!
