The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I think we all had a great time at this show. I wish I was still there today and not at work ....

Big thanks to Johnnie and the 29th Infrantry/Hell & Back guys for having us! The Marines and the Alien were more popular than I could have hoped, and I think a great time was had by all.

AWESOME DROP!!!!!!
If we get invited back next year, EVERYONE should come along!!!!!
There was talk of setting up a display, if we do.

Bring your wives/girlfriends too as they can get their hair done in 40's style, dress the part and go dancing in the evening!!

For the boys, there's big guns, bigger guns, ma-HU-ssive guns, tanks, half-tracks, APCs, the lot.
There's also the immense array of surplus shops, with some real bargains to be had (lots of bargains, so bring lots of money).

Barbecues in the late afternoon, evening entertainment (including a Burlesque show  :D ) and so much fun!!!

Seriously, you all have to come next time!!!

Big, big thanks to Johnny O for inviting us :D

Agreed. It was one of the best events we've done for a long time. The whole event had a great friendly "ambience" - almost akin to Dragon*Con, but in the militaria/re-enactment community. And the camping/BBQ thing was much more fun than I expected.

So, as Woody said: if we get the chance next year, it's one not to miss!

Had a fantastic time at this show and can't recommend it enough. It was a pleasure to meet all the great people in the 29th Infantry and see all the other re-enactors doing their thing as well. I was particularly impressed with the whole atmosphere and almost felt like I was living in the past at times, except for the marine armour and Pulse Rifle of course. Enjoyed the night life too, very cool.
Kaan had a great time, it was his first time camping and he's been talking about it all day apparently.

Hope we can go again next year and a HUGE thanks to Johnnie for inviting us to this and for looking after us so well all weekend.

Haven't put any pics of any shows up so far this year but was so impressed with this one I felt I had to :)

I'm really glad this event went so well, I was a little worried about you guys as it's the first time we've (you've) done a show of this type. Added to that is the fact that these shows have got themselves a bit of a bad reputation lately, but that's hopefully only caused by a small minority.

I'm not really the camping type (cue the jokes!) I've got to be honest so you might not see me there but it looks like fun - maybe next time! :)

Depends how you quantify camping? Me and Glenn slept in my car (not together you pervs!). :D

The BBQ was good fun, even if I wasn't well enough to remember to bring some food and then feel like eating much anyway. :)

I'd like to point out that I slept in a totally separate (and locked) car and Abe remained confined to the trunk!

I dunno. I'd class sleeping in the car as more comfortable - the front seats on my car recline such that they meet the back seats if you remove the head rests, forming a flat-ish bed that is long enough for me. Also, car seats are sculpted and plush upholstered. Cars are usually secure and 100% leak proof.

The only problem I found was that the morning light woke me at 4:30am, but I managed to get back to sleep.

Or you talking about sleeping with Glenn? ;) ;)

I really wish I could have made the show. And to make things worse Ranger Smith told me on Saturday evening that if I'd said how much I'd wanted to go he would have taken me. Grrrr...

Great pictures, Darren. Love the ones of you and Rich on the upturned jeep. And Kaan looked great in his cammies!

As Gareth says, car seats are much better than laying on an uneven bit of ground. :)

My seats couldn't recline as I'd had to fold the rear ones forward to get all our gear in.

I've slept in my car before, so was happy to do it again. 8)

Yes, they do cost money, but you're Marines, dammitt. Improvise, adapt, overcome....

I chanced upon one of them collapsible canvas camp-beds that someone had chucked out. Perfect working order, nothing broken, nothing missing :)

BTW, who was it that took that photo of Claire stood by the Jeep? Darren?
Can you post/PM me the piccie please?

Ta.
