The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Photos from NSC -

General Event Photos On Facebook - Click Here
These should be publicly viewable, and I am adding to them as I manage to go through the backlog.
Im pretty sure the only ones really left to be uploaded are the ones from Saturday evening's meal.

The Group Shots from Saturday Afternoon - Click Here
I am still taking orders for these for those who ran out of money over the weekend.
Price is the same (£5 per print), and I will be able to send them off before the weekend.
Prints will be sent in a hard backed envelope, so as to protect them.
There is a link to my email address in the gallery (Click the little "Chris Meany" in the top right of the screen).

As said before, it was an amazing weekend, and thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome.
See those of you who are going to Expo, in London in a few weeks.

Great photos Chris. Really well done.

When I look at all this, it's nuts.

I just find it amazing that this Alien fandom seems to be way bigger than Star Wars or anything else in terms of vision, execution of ideas and creative expression – even though it's tiny in comparison and dwarfed in popularity by the Lucas franchise.

It's just incredible.
Nuts – but in a good way!

I never know what to put in these threads, as I always seem to end up clicking "edit" straight afterwards because I've forgotten something, so I'll keep it simple.

Thanks to *everyone* (do you see what I did there?) who was part of the weekend.. and to those that weren't, all I have to say is that you missed a brilliant weekend.

My weekend was spent inside Challenger where I was either having to deal with lippy lab-rats (you know who you are... yes you! *mutters about cheese and brown screens*) or else checking that the Lab-Rats, Aliens and Marines were in position (and you always were.) This did mean that the only time I managed to see everything else was before the Space Centre opened, but I wouldnt have missed it for the world.

Even though there were a few sticky moments (fortunatly none involving acidic blood), I think I'm right in saying that not a single run had any sort of problem that the punters would really notice, and in my book that's a result, plus I'm especially thankful that I managed to get out of there without being lynched as I can be a right bossy git sometimes and I'm sure the thought crossed a few peoples minds from time to time :)

Special thanks to G for being the Techno-Wizzard of the AE.. In fact sir, you ARE the AE as far as I'm concerned. All the tech worked perfectly as far as I know (well expect for the "operator error" moments that always happen, and are part of the fun) and to Rich for chasing up Marines when we found ourselves short from time to time.. Hmmm... The Rich-Mafia are taking over mmmwwaaahhhh!

You all rocked!

Roll on the next one!

Love the avatar, Rich!

From my POV, the AE was the best one yet this year - And I would like to apologise to anyone I might have gotten a wee bit snappy with/about when something did go wrong. Rich is right - You lot are so good at AE-ing now that if we DO cock something up, we can cover it so well that it looks deliberate.

I think next year ( *Grins at Malika* ) we need to ensure that we do one full runthrough with each squad before the punters are allowed in. If this means a slight delay to the first run, so be it - but I've found that as soon as the mental gears are re-engaged, we drop back into our roles as if we've been living them all our lives.

Well played, all of you - And kudos to the AE virgins whose cherries were popped this year.

WANNA DO IT AGAIN RIGHT NOW!

I think rehearsal is definitely the key.

One thing I noted sometimes, particularly listening to the Control Room over the Lab headset, was people talking over each other.
When you're creating panic and Marines are all shouting at once, it gets a bit messy and the audience won't always get the full experience of exactly what's happening.

One of the biggest steps we could take in making this really professional is if people need to know each other's key lines and give enough silence for those lines to be spoken.

That way the audience hears everything, the experience lasts longer and is fully immersive!

I'm still curious who on team 2 last viewing had the rifle in my face as we turned in the airlock after the xeno's had us in the corridor as I papped my pants. Round of applause as it got my heart racing.

Oh Callum will back me up here.

We were the first people to meet her on Friday night and I ALMOST took her head off HAHAHA.

We were at the hotel reception desk booking in. We were playing about and I stepped back one step and arms out, caught Colette (I quickly apologised) and we both looked at each other with the Nods in her direction and Callum said "In the Pipe five by Five" LOL

Colette remembered me on Sat Morning when I breifly spoke to her, as I made an "IMPRESSION" on her.

Thank You I`m here all week, Try the Veal.

Also on the photoshoot Chris did on Sat afternoon at 5pm. I and my other Bad ass Marines were dissing the Glorified Taxi Driver crews whilst stood around for the fotoshoot (all in jest) ;) Anyway Daniel came over and said "what am I doing picking on his Alter ego" (words to that effect and concerning Paul Elder I presume), So in All my finery "Watch that first Step there Spunkmyer, It`s a STICKY one" (words to that effect) Laughs from everyone :D

We had Cynthia and Ricco walking up and someone called out "Dietricht, Frost YOUR up" again Laughter all round.

Little gems like these are going to LAST!!

Rich I didn't even know you were there last weekend until I saw a photo on Facebook!

Well done to all involved in the AE, I wish I could have come to see a run but I was busier than a busy thing.
