The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi All,

Thanks again for your support, it is really appreciated. :D

Gareth and I are working on some cheap accommodation at the moment.

Unfortunately the Exewing events can be a bit dis-jointed in their logistics, this is due to the fact the facilities in our area of Devon are equally dis-jointed! :D

The Venue, The Guest Hotel, The Meal Hotel and Other Accommodation are all in different places by necessity. :(

Saturday Night Meal - Hotel in Honiton

Sunday Event - Pecorama, Beer, Devon, EX12 3NA

Guest Hotel - Just outside Honiton

Costumers - Another Hotel just outside Honiton.

Sunday Night Meal / Chill Down - Same Hotel as the Sat Night Meal

In a nutshell we set up as much of the event that we can, or is safe to on the Saturday afternoon/early evening.

Then have a meal with the guests and other Exewing members/costumers for those that can/want to attend on the Satrurday night. (more details posted soon)

Sunday morning we go to the event venue as early as we can to finish setting up for a 10am opening.

For those who are staying on we usually chill out somewhere on Sunday Night after the majority of the event is taken down.

Some great ideas already, thank you.

Quote:
>>We are probably going to have a prop/weapons display table, maybe a NERF shooting range and possibly a photostand.

Does anyone have any other ideas for stuff we can do in a large outside area?<<

As Gareth stated above the Pecorama venue is predominantly as outdoor venue, we are working on getting as much tentage available as possible for the area, enough to cover a prop display and the shooting range at least.

Gareth: Do you think a seperate Gazeebo for just storing stuff, taking a break in and getting changed in would be a good idea?

We have run a Doctor Who UNIT Nerf shooting range in the past, we can adapt that back to a more general Sci-Fi military range, or Colonial Marines specific if you'd prefer?

I have already spoken to the venue about the weapons display to avoid the problem we had last time.

For those who didn't hear about it, Steve and Rich put an amazing array of replica weapons on display and someone that we all thought was someone to do with the venue complained and made the guys pack up the display.

Very disappointing for the guys who had put a lot of effort into the display.

Wasn't until the end of the day that we all found out that it wasn't anything to do with the venue staff at all, just a busy body who had no right to make that call......GRRRRRR!

Quote:
>>>maybe a kids treasure/bug hunt. find clues/items hidden around the event, which eventually lead to Abe the friendly Alien.

Rescue the lost ODST

Nerf range

Gunny Rich's Marine boot camp - run the sprogs ragged over a makeshift obstacle course<<<

The treasure hunt element is pretty much covered by two activities already, a Boba Fett Bounty Hunt that will replace the Timelord Quest we ran last year, and the Woodland Walk where you have to spot all the Sci-Fi characters and mark it down, sort of nature trail style.

We did the Boot Camp thing last time, we could do that again, incorporating the Nerf shooting range?

Hopefully the 'WARZONE' (are we okay to call it the WARZONE area?) will be in the same area as the UNIT range was last time.

Gareth / Paul....can I advertise the UKCM's attendance on the Exewing website?

http://www.exewing.co.uk

Looking forward to it already. :)

Cheers,

Andy

Yup - an extra Gazebo would be good. I might look into getting one. Mainly because I really like the word... GAZEBO!

And absolutely - looks like we are going to have a good turn out for this one, so advertise away!

If anyone else wants to sign up then add yourself to the list! We still need to know about peoples need for hotel ASAP!

Great, thank you.

Just a thought, cos they keep popping into my head,, would power be an advantage to the UKCM area?

I'm guessing that is a yes, so will investigate.

I am going to see the Hotel people Monday night, will let you know how I got on asap.

Cheers,

Andy

It is likely that we three will come up Sunday morning and go back after the event.
We're only about 2 hours away, tops.

I'm not sure all three of us can sleep in the van.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the sign ups so far, sounds like some of you guys are going to great lengths to be there.

Really appreciate it.

I think we will need a bigger area at this rate! :D

Gareth should have some info supplied to him shortly with regards to food the night before and accommodation so people can plan accordingly.

I will also try and get some photos up of the area the UKCM will be occupying.

Cheers All,

Andy
