The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello guys and gals,

I'm back with an update. Well, I've just about sorted out the complete list of costumed buds from our Daleks and 99th Garrison stormroopers. So we should have about 7 Daleks, 2 Cybermen, 1 Darth Vader at least 4 stormtroopers, dark jedi, jawas, tusken raiders, imperial guards, the emperor and a bunch of other guys and gals who I've worked with before who will be acting as guides and general Bounty Hunters for our Treasure Hunt which we've turned into a bounty hunt to go with the theming.

I also had a meeting with the Woodhorn people last Tuesday. Due to the size of the thing now, we're getting a marquee in the large grassy areas between the buildings for the various activities during the day which is just about what I have already posted above. It'll contain props and the raffle prizes and act as the main focus during the day for info and activities.

We're still expecting over a 1000 people during the day as it will be advertised in the local press, library leaflet drops, free papers and so on.

It's getting closer now and seeing as the exhibition already contains a full size alien and predator props and the sleeping chamber from one of the alien films (may be Alien 3 - it's more square than round - you'd probably recognise it.) it would be great if we could get an escaped alien to scare the bejesus out of the visiting throngs.

As I mentioned, food and drink would be available throughout the day and there is a small fund to help out with travel expenses. It is small, but we're trying to raise money for charity so it would be great if a few of you could pool.

Sign up now soldiers... and aliens.

Angus may about to be reborn and may be available for this too. I will also hopefully be there as 9th doctor for a bit if I get it together in time.

Thanks alot. This is great.

Rex the public would love!? to be terrorised by your alien. Any chance of getting a list of names together for the day, costumes, and even maybes. I need to get a final number for all the costumed peeps to sort of food for the day. For example

splik - dalek/stormtrooper - definite
rex - alien - definite

Just add your name and keep it going. Thanks again.

Should have 5 or 6 Marines coming down with a mix of armour, Dropship gear and maybe a smartgunner.

If you want to have a break from the marine you can bring your trek gear. We've got two full on Klingons heading our way so it would be good to see a nice mix over the day.

I'm not expecting anyone to be in full costume all day, it's summer, it'll be hot, and we've got a mix mix of characters and events throughout the day.

It would be nice to include an Alien Event at some point during the day. Maybe something where we get the kids to follow the marines to locate the alien and somehow get out alive, something nice and controlled... kid friendly stuff. Any ideas?

There are lots of buildings and places to hide and it could be a nice way to introduce the alien to the day.

If we can costume it all day in Atlanta, anywhere in Britain will be easy peasy!

Bug Hunt it is then. I could schedule a bug hunt for some time after 12:00 so we could prepare the alien in location, get the kids to meet at one of the buildings then you could do an investigation through three locations until you find the alien. The marines can capture and protect the kids.

I've got an ideal dark hidey hole.

Here's the current schedule for the day.

10:00 Bounty Hunt Launch at the Station
11:00 Stormtrooper Academy - How to be a Stormtrooper
11:30 Dalek Deconstruction - How to build a Dalek
12:00 How to talk like a Dalek
13:00 Alien Bug Hunt - Marines take visitors on a hunt for an Alien
14:00 Stormtrooper Academy - How to be a Stormtrooper
14:30 Dalek Deconstruction - How to build a Dalek
15:00 Daleks vs the Empire quiz - Universe Challenge
15:30 Chat with the characters
16:00 Autograph auction and raffle and prize giving
17:00 Closedown

I'm going to try and keep the activities between 20-30 minutes for change around. It gets busy after lunch so it would be great if we kept the Aliens under wraps until they get found. I could put it in the 12:00 slot if you want to spend more of the day with Aliens. I've repeated the morning sessions to keep it going and make sure no one misses out as the times in the leaflets that went out to all the local museums and public places state its between 11 and 4.

I'm going to put a briefing on in the morning for everyone, just to make sure everyone knows the location and the activities.

I've also got to put a Dalek riding on the new accessible carriage sometime after lunchtime.

It's going to be tight, but it should be a heck of a lot of fun.

Let me know what you think.

Guys - Does anyone have any ideas on any changes to the Bug Hunt format i came up with for NSC last year?

We station 4 or 5 "scientists" around the venue, each with a bit of info to program into the motion trackers to narrow the search parameters, and investigate nooks and crannies in between those encounters?
Print a bunch of sheets for the kids to fill in with the answers...

Sounds great. I can come up with something specific for the location. Check this out www.experiencewoodhorn.com/buildings/ there can be specific info for some of the buildings near the two heapsteads. We've got additional people that could act as people who have encountered the aliens but managed to escape they are standing in as bounty Hunters, but they are an acting group. So it would be great.

I'm going to be doing some briefings as to the days activities from 9am. But if you can't get there that early I'll fill you in when you get there.

We've got about 40 costumers for the day including yourselves so its looking busy and Woodhorn are really looking forward to the day.

Thanks. Will be in touch soon. Just under four Weeks and counting.

Hi all

I only live 20 mins away and have been meaning to drag the family along to see the exhibition.

I'll come along on 22nd and introduce myself. Don't have any costumes at the moment although in the past I've done quite a few events with the Rebel Legion, 501st etc.

Will there be any space to display our props? I could bring a few things along. Or is this purely for costuming groups and the props are only those in the exhibition?

Al
