The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Even if you don't suffer jetlag, you're really not going to feel any better after trying to sleep on the plane back. :?

Chilling out on the Monday is a great way of getting a little energy back after a hectic weekend, but you've booked your tickets now, so you'll find out then.

I'll talk to Rich about AvP on a plane. But you won't need to pay us if we do it.

Therefore, I'd like people to book their own flights. You can join me on one, both or neither direction, but if you give me your outbound BA confirmation number for the flights below then I'll do online checkin for all of us to get us seated in a group. Trust me; it's a fun way to start the holiday even if you need to travel to London first.

Gareth...the BA confirmation number you mention, is that the flight number? Or is it a different number you need for the online checkin you mentioned?

I have booked flights for Abe and I!!

They cost me £416. Looking at previous years (and considering the VAT rise in a couple of days time) I don't believe they will get much cheaper. However, I cannot guarantee this.

American Airlines' website is offering the same flights code-shared with BA ("Operated by BA") slightly cheaper. However, AA's online booking and checkin systems are nasty. If you would like me to check you in "with the group" then I would prefer you book with BA.

Code:
Flight number   BA0227
From   Heathrow (London) Terminal 5
To   Atlanta
Depart   31 Aug 2011 15:00
Arrive   31 Aug 2011 19:05
Cabin   World Traveller
Operated by   British Airways
Booking status   Confirmed

Flight number   BA0226
From   Atlanta Terminal N
To   Heathrow (London)
Depart   6 Sep 2011 21:15
Arrive   7 Sep 2011 10:15
Cabin   World Traveller
Operated by   British Airways
Booking status   Confirmed

Although I don't think it will affect it much, I should correct what I implied above - the receipt says:
Quote:
Please note that air travel is not subject to VAT therefore we do not issue VAT receipts.

Sorry for misleading people.

However, the BA sale ends on 25th January - I still think that now is the time to book.

Gareth did you book from BA?

As the £416 is more than the £391.23 that I got quoted from BA.

Yes I see what you mean Gareth.

Just reloaded my account details with the quote and it has gone up to £416.63 from the £391.23 so that £25.40 in two days.

I am booking now. I have booked the tickets due the rate on increase from BA!!!!

I would say to every one to book now!!!.

It is NOT the flight number. It is the "Booking Reference" that is in the subject line of the email that the BA booking system sent you. Don't post it publicly - if someone has it then they will be able to change your booking.

You can pay for more luggage but it will cost £32 there and £32 back so that £64 for one more bag.

Gareth what hotel will be staying at??

I am now keeping my eye on the $ to the £ to get a good deal.

I have several bookings held for the Marriott - At this time; for not enough rooms. However, since a deposit needs to be paid in July, I will be able to poach a few more when people cancel unwanted rooms - DON'T PANIC, let Abe look after it! ;)

I'd like people to post up when they book their flights, or if they are ruling out going to D*Con so I can gauge how many rooms we might need.

It'll cost me more, but I'm gonna have to wait until after I've had my operation before booking the flights. :|

Okay.

Figure as i work it. I'll leave Manchester. Arrive at Heathrow and be ready for the flight with you guys. And the same for the way back. I'll be paying around the 20th January for the flights hopefully the sale is still good. If the flights are to crappy price i'll have to back out. But i think i'll be making this one for sure!
