The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Kat sez she'd prefer to share with folk she knows, which is fair enough being she's a laydee and all, so I guess the exact arrangements are up to her. That cool with you guys?

Nah, Coredeath - I have the two rooms.
All that's in question is who shares with who - Everyone else, is it ONLY the two rooms I have that are needing filled? Is everyone else happy with their room arrangements, or IS someone else still looking to fill berths/get a bed for themselves?

Finally sorted a venue for the party on the Saturday night....

MAIYANGO
http://www.maiyango.com/

Maiyango is the new boutique hotel in Leicester. They have offered us the rooftop bar and terrace for the night, with a BBQ (on the terrace if nice weather and inside if not). Oh and Maiyango is close enough to spit at the Holiday Inn and hit it (even closer than the Noodle Bar!)

MENU
Skewers
spiced herb koftas
chicken with red peppers & thai spices
marinated seasonal vegetable kebabs with sweet chilli & coriander
beef or lamb burgers with sesame seed bun
Fresh Salads
new potatoes with wholegrain mustard & herb dressing
vine tomatoes with red onion & basil
cucumber with mint & natural yoghurt
mixed leaves
Accompaniments
jacket potatoes served with grated cheese and butter
fresh fruit salad
selection of home made breads

In addition the DJ until 1am (there is talk of Karaoke!)

£19 a head

OK so you will need a ticket now, which you need to cough up £19 for please.

Send your PayPal payments to Trinitytrash1uk@yahoo.co.uk -GIFT please to stop the fees.

If you don't have PayPal (why not!) you can send a cheque to Malika Andress, National Space Centre, Exploration Drive, Leicester LE4 5NS.

All payments must be in by 31 August, or I will not book you a BBQ!

There are 80 places available, so jump to it!

Please include your name on either form of payment, if your names not down you're not coming in!

Oh and dress code is smart casual, but some of the UKG guys have decided to dress up, so it is down to personal preference, but there is no specific requirement for tux this year so no hire fees!!! 8)

Cheers, Malika.
Should have funds for us lot Paypalled to you within a day or two.

Is the food buffet-style, then?
I thought £19 was a bit steep at first, but looking at that menu... OM NOM NOM!
I can see me getting my money's worth and no mistake ;)

It's all there for ya if you take time to read it Coredeath. :)

Malika ('Malikaand') is running the event and organising the barbecue, for which we have to pay £19 each if we want to go.

See her post above for details and payment info.

We have over 80 UKG members coming, we are trying to get Karaoke just for Gareth to sing Super Trooper again (nice dedication matey) and we have also invited some "special guests" to attend, so it should be a fun night.

Guys I really did try to get something cheaper, but everywhere was booked or even more expensive. Apparently the hotel suite was booked for a wedding two years ago!!! How organised is that!?!?!

The Noodle Bar is dirt cheap, so it sort of balances out.

Super Trouper was a reference to both the UKG and Harry "The Lights" Harris - I only found out the later while I was reading the lyrics on the screen! ;)

This year, Abe is hoping that the DJ has the Album version of Thriller, he knows all the moves!

Malika - Like I said, even a tight fisted git like me thinks that £19's no bad if there's food and a DJ included!
If you need a hand on the DJ front, I'd be happy to step in, too :)
Or at least, make sure he's got plenty of rock, and not too much chart/R&B nonsense ;)

This party isn't compulsory. The UKG party was fun last year, but it's completely up to you. You'd do well to get a "proper" dinner for much less than £19 anyway.

Last year there were a few people who stayed in the hotel bar who didn't go to the ball.
