The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Have been in touch with Jonnie Oddball who is organising a special effects weekend at the Movieum venue on the 11th and 12th July. He would like our group to attend if possible so please sign up below if you can make it. Copy and paste your names, you know the drill.....

The show will be all day on the Saturday and Sunday.
Terry English, Bob Keen and Chris Knowles will hopefully be there doing seminars on their work.

Changing facilities will be supplied as well as lunch (which is a nice rarity).

Cheers

Darren

I'm sure we can find somewhere a little nicer than the "Hole in the Wall", or is that just me being fussy. We don't HAVE to make the first pub we went into as a group in that area our "official" pub now do we.

Hole in the wall? Are you kidding me?! There are some amazing boozers around the South Bank and that is not one of 'em!

The bar in the Movieum is awesome, did any of you guys check it out when we were there?

There was a bar?! Where?

I thought they set one up temporarily for the opening party we went to, I didn't know there was one there permanently.

You may be right, H. It did look pretty permanent, solid and all that.
But those catering and events companies make some pretty impressive portable stuff,
so it could have been there just for that night.

It was at the front of the building and overlooked the river with views of Westminster. Very cool.
Probably wouldn't be cheap enough though. Still, next time I'm down that way I'll take a gander.
I'll go with the flow anyway, even if it is the -eek!- Hole in the Wall!

I'll be at Waterloo tomorrow for Star Trek at the Imax, so can pop in and check.

BTW, is this a fully kitted drop, complete with PRs?

If PRs are going to be used we need to check this is okay with the Movieum and be very aware where we can and can't use them - with the houses of Parliament in sight just across the river I'd imagine using them outside of the Movieum's inner entrance would be extremely risky.

We normally operate a 'no carry outside' rule anyway.

Sure, although what with it being such a sensitive location we do need to take extra care to see that that's adhered to.

The issue of PR's has already been brought up and they are OK inside the Movieum. Obviously we will have to make sure that no one goes outside with any weapons as we normally do anyway.

Cheers

Anyways would it be alright to have some guys mobile numbers only since my first drop!

Cheers!!!!

PM me and i'll give you mine!

Spoke to Jonnnie today and confirmed what they wanted. As stated above, they would like Aliens, Predators and Marines to mingle with the customers throughout the day. There is a very nice green room which we will have use with a kitchen so plenty of tea and coffee on hand for breaks. Lunch will be provided. There is a Premier Inn round the corner and the movieum may be able to sort a discount for us. Will have to wait for confirmation on that though.

Cheers

Darren
