The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

G, I'll drop the organisers a line and see how many tables we can blag.

one/two 6' x 3' tables would be good for the front of the shooting range, the targets can go on the floor, or up on tables if there are enough.

Same sort of numbers for the Aliens tent do you think?

Cheers,

Andy

So, having talked to Andy, it looks like we may have some work to do at this event!

If you were at the NSC events, you'll be familiar with the NERF shooting range. If you did the Doctor Who Day then you'll know about the UNIT bootcamp - they're essentially the same thing but with a Aliens or DW flavour. In association with Exewing, we're looking to run the UNIT bootcamp. It will be nominally a UNIT bootcamp - with the DW related targets and posters - bring UNIT getup if you have it. However, we'll be mixing it up with Aliens so Marine gear, BDUs and the occasional Xenomorph will be fine. A suggested donation of 50p for the event's charities will be asked from punters for the NERF range.

We should have two large gazebo/tents (hopefully covered with camo netting) outside on the grass bank if the weather is good. One will hold the shooting range and the other can be for a weapons and Aliens prop display. The organisers have OK'd the display of RIF's, and the local police have been informed. I will bring the UKCM banners and standees. The remaining question is how many tables we'll be able to blag...

So, I'm looking for both Aliens props and airsoft guns to display. There'll be a requirement for the table to be watched, and also for people to run the shooting range. I'll be in/out of costume as required to help out. And if we don't have the people then we'll need to shut it down. But I'm confident we won't need to do that.

What do we think? Doable? Of course, if the weather is poor we might have to move inside or change plans ...

I am very happy with that as the Beer DW day was great and worked very well.

If tables are short I think the NERF shooting range is a must and display last. But both would be nice to have alien stuff on the table as little hands I think not. Plus teenagers with my airsoft guns I would not be happy with.

I'm afraid circumstances around work and the event I'm co-running the next day mean I'm going to have to step off the Ready Line for this event! :x

However my offer still stands for anyone who is over-nighting or local and is not too hungover for a short drive over the bridge into the Land of the Dragon free admission to the Welsh Action Figure Show where I'm sure you will have a few photo-whoring opportunities and might even see some 1/6th Colonial Marines. Oh and did I mention the venue where the event is being held also has a Bar which being a Social Club is very reasonably priced?

Venue is Severn Bridge Social Club on Bulwark Road, Bulwark, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, South Wales, NP16 5JN and there should be signs from the Chepstow Junction off the M4 if you don't have a Satnav.

Hope to maybe see a few of you there just ask the nice lady on the door for Winch and be NICE as she is my MUM!

Sorry for the thread hijack  if anyone needs any more details drop me a PM.

I've spoken to the organisers and voiced my concerns about the weather, we have the contingency plans in place, however these won’t be acted upon until the morning when we arrive to set up.

If the weather is too bad to set up outside then we will be setting up the marquees as we planned, although they will be inside, probably in the squash courts of the sports centre.

We are intending to still have the marquees covered in camo netting, the nerf range, the weapon display (?), etc.

It will be a shame if we can't set up outside as I believe they are having a Landrover Defender, some sort of helicopter display and a few other bits that we would have set up next to.

Steve, good news you are coming early, we are also intending to be there at 7.30am so we have time to adapt to the situation.

See you all soon. :D

Andy

oooh, one thing, there has been some mention of red tape for barrels of weapons, I'll bring some along just in case.

Sod it, im a no for this now. Had the day booked off but on 24 hours notice (as in it will only be confirmed if im off 24hours before) but i had a bad accident and wrote my car off, so i've got no easy way of getting there. But hey, im off on the first holiday we've had for 7 years on Tuesday and i still don't have most of the things post people think are essential for a holiday sorted so i suppose I better get that sorted instead!

Missing you guys, hopefully will get to a drop sooner rather than later!

Gareth and Kris (and Abe) down and clear.

Yup, it was a subdued one. But, an amazing event and we all did an amazing job with the display and show. The weather didn't put a damper on the attendance - it was packed to capacity again.

I agree with Vicky: DATA - you should choose: a cellphone, an implanted tracker or a straightjacket chained to an immovable object! :)

Dan, Matt; we missed you both.

Looking forward to the next one! By my reckoning, that is either the Peterborough one, Bristol comic expo or then London Expo.

I went to Bruce to have a cup of tea and chat.

It was a great weekend and thanks for Jon and Sarah for Breakfast and taking us to afternoon meal.

I got the phone on charge and reading up how to work the thing.

Very nice to meet Kris and sorry that Dan and Matt did not come as you was missed.

All mine guns have been clean and packed away ready to do it again.
