The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Please find all the information for the event. Hopefully everything has been covered. If you have any questions that are not covered here, please post them and I will try to answer them if I can.

LOCATION:

TBC

FLOORPLANS:

TBC

TIMES:

Fri: Arrive for 08:30 out for 09:30. Finish at 19:00

Sat: Arrive for 07:30 out for early bird queue at 08:30. Finish at 19:00.

Sun: Arrive for 08:00 out for early bird queue at 09:00. Finish at 17:00.

Please keep to the above times. We really do need to be out at the times stated, to work the Early Bird queues. MCM have given us specific areas within the queuing halls that we can occupy to interact with the public without disrupting queue flow.

Please check http://www.tfl.gov.uk before commencing your journey to ExCeL to check for any updates.

ENTRY:

Everyone on the signup will be allocated an MCM pass to gain entry to the event. This is one pass for the entire weekend. If you lose it cannot be re-issued and you will have to pay for subsequent days. They will need to be collected individually when you arrive. You cannot collect for someone else as everyone needs to sign in each day so we know who is in attendance. Checkin will be done on the concourse outside the Halls.

This will be similar to the last London event, so please bear with us when trying to check-in. We will do our best to process it all smoothly but will be at the mercy of MCM and ExCeL security as to how efficiently this runs!

Only those on the signup will be allocated a pass into the event. Any additional family and friends will have to purchase a full price ticket if they wish to enter MCM EXPO and will be unable to enter the changing area.

Due to the nature of the event with large numbers of people turning up and just hanging around on the concourse and outside, ExCeL and MCM are now checking tickets for people on the concourse and outside ExCeL. If someone cannot produce a ticket or pass for an ExCeL event, they will be asked to leave the venue.

If you are going to be late or are unable to attend please phone Elaine on 07825 655044. (Kris on 07792 041989 for Friday.)

EXPO is very busy and we do sometimes get members of the public trying to get into our changing area. Anyone seen in our changing area that is not recognised should be challenged. You are required to wear your MCM pass at all times when not in costume.

As is the case for the last few events, for storing kits overnight, we will hopefully be offered a lockable area at the ExCeL, which will obviously be accessible to MCM & ExCeL staff.

As with any event, lockable area or not, any kit left overnight is AT OWN RISK. If you have any doubts or concerns the key thing is to take it with you.

WEAPONS:

There are rules on the MCM EXPO site regarding weapons. These rules are from "Totally Cosplay" who are in charge of the public cosplayers you see at the event. These rules have always been in place. They do not apply to the UKG, as we are not attending as members of the public. You may be subject to enhanced security bag checks when entering the venue.

However, everyone must still act responsibly especially when carrying weapons. We must obey any orders given to us by MCM staff, ExCeL Security or the Police as the event progresses. This includes but is not limited to leaving weapons in the changing area if requested and/or inspecting and identifying weapons as replicas by marking with tape etc. Sometimes due to security threats or public stupidity, we have been asked not to take weapons outside the ExCeL Centre. We were still allowed them on the concourse and inside the event itself. This can change as the event progresses.

I will be liaising with MCM, ExCeL and the Police during the weekend. At present there are no restrictions in place. (This may be subject to change.)

HEALTH & SAFETY \ SECURITY BRIEFINGS:

First thing every morning we will be having a Health & Safety \ Security briefing. This will take place during kit up time and will be given by one of the MCM \ ExCeL team. Due to the size of the event and the number of public in attendance it is imperative that we all know what we should do and where we should meet up in an emergency should the need arise. Please make yourself available to listen to this. I know most of you have heard this numerous times but it is a requirement of the venue that everyone receives this information.

HEAT:

Depending on the weather and the sheer number of people at the event can make the EXPO halls *REALLY* hot! Please remember to drink lots of water and know your own limits in costume. It can take 20 minutes to get from outside EXCEL back to the changing area through the crowds when the event is on. DO NOT leave it until you are almost passing out with heat stroke to decide you need to go back in. Make sure you are aware of where you are and how long it will take you to get to the changing area. Don't be afraid to ask a spotter to take you back in if need be. Spotters will also need to be aware of the heat and keep a close eye on the troopers.

REFRESHMENTS:

We will have some refreshments kindly laid on by MCM to keep us going over the weekend. Water, crisps, biscuits, chocolate bars & Haribo will be available in the changing area.

SQUADS:

Squads will be formed over the course of the event. As people kit up they will be grouped and assigned relevant spotters. It gives people much more flexibility over the course of the weekend. Especially those signed up with multiple costumes. Whilst this gives greater flexibility we must be vigilant that we do not all go for lunch at the same time etc, leaving the event empty. This is also not an excuse for people to come in for 2 hour breaks. If the changing room becomes too busy, people will be asked to kit up and go back out. Please try to make sure that no character goes out alone. You should go out with other characters / groups or will be assigned a spotter if they are wanted / needed.

Where we have multiple specific single characters (Vader etc) I will get you guys together first thing so we can discuss the fairest way to get the day shared.

ACTIVITIES:

We may be asked by MCM to be present for the event opening and provide characters for escorts to panels etc. This will be confirmed during the event.

501st VISITORS \ Rebel Legion \ UK Predators \ UKCM \ 15thCL \ R2BC \ Mando Mercs:

Please be aware that all foreign troopers must abide by all UKG, MCM and ExCeL Rules and policies whilst at the event. This includes attending the security briefings and abiding by the UKG "Lids On" policy.

SUNDAY

The official app’s map is bloody awful, but do you know which area you’ll be in?

I’m hoping to get there on Saturday, so would like to pop in and say hello. :)
