The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

On the drum roll thread, someone mentioned creating a ring tone. Has anyone done this for their phone?
I would love to create a motion tracker ringtone for my Blackberry.

Vasquez's "LETS ROOOOOOCK..... budda-budda-budda" and a few of Hudson's lines are available as MP3/WAV type files.

I learned the hard way that Vas is just TOO loud for use in a quiet office environment.

I made a motion tracker mp3 using a single tracker 'ping' that I found as a download, looped it a bunch of times in Audacity and increased the pitch every 4 or 5 beeps, I need to re-do it though beacause as the 'pings' pitch went up, it was shortened ever so slightly so sounds like it speeds up as it goes along. Quite groovy I think though..........drove my GF up the wall for a few hours while I looped it again and again and again trying to get it right!!!

If memory serves I made a pulsey one the same way with a few pulse rifle bursts tagged together

I'll have to try and find 'em again :D :D :D :D :D :D

Not Aliens themed but my SMS tone is the last 'blurp' of Mother starting up at the begging of Alien; and my alert tones are Mother's sirens.

Thanks WDI, I love the sounds from Alien, especially "Mother". I was tempted to "steal" some of them from the first DVD release of Alien, the menu had a few of those sounds.

ReplicantFX used to provide a ZIP (free download from his website) of all the sounds he used in his PR FX Board.

I might have mine knocking around somewhere...

I've got part of the track that plays when Ripley and the rest are fleeing the atmosphere processing plant in the APC on my cell phone, but it was provided by my cell provider (Virgin mobile), and thus I don't think I can uploaded or send it to anyone.

But that's nothing special to remake if you have the soundtrack.

Since rapidshare is hateful evilness, I don't feel bad about blatantly advertising Dropbox here. It might be the second most awesome thing in the Universe after Abe T. Alien.

Watch this: https://www.dropbox.com/tour

And if you like me, then use my referrer link to sign up: http://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTIzODU0NTk

If you use more than one computer, it will change you life and it allows fast, easy public sharing.

We now return to your scheduled programming ....

Some time ago I "grabbed" some of my fav quotes from Aliens (and one Space: above and beyond episode). Mp3s not WAVs though. Hope they're okay, haven't checked them for a while. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, it's a good idea taking quotes from the film as ringtones. Well, and as Willie G. has suggested maybe we should put them all onto his server. You know Will, I could sort of "grab" any quotes or other sounds for you guys like from at least Aliens (second part) as I got it on DVD and only need to record bit by bit onto SDHC-flashcard via line out then process it further (not with Audacity but with Pro Tools, so I can also mix some of them elements together, too. After all this IS pretty much what my job is about) 8) .

@ Bugstomper99: Come to think of it, if you send me that single original motion tracker beep by e-mail I can then do the same processing like you did with the pitching but without the sound getting quicker with my audio program.

Oh and by the way here is another nice exsample for a ringtone (thanks to ADC for that link on facebook). I took a part of that "70s-Alien-Theme-Disco-Remix" as my current ringtone.

The full tune (by Nostromo) you all may check out here:

http://www.badassdigest.com/2011/05/06/ ... co-version

So, I'll be all ears (or pen and paper) for your suggestions what (sounds/quotes) I should take from out of the film (i.e. the line: "Somebody wake up Hicks..!" springs to mind to get you all started :) ). Anyway, I can also convert all my recordings cuts and mixes into any kind of digital audio formats (as in .aiff, .wav, .mp3 and some others) whatever your phones might accept as files for ring tones. Bear in mind that it will take me some time to do lots of this stuff but I am a "player boy" with sounds as some of you will know... ... let's keep in touch about this.

:m41aownage:

yours
