Hello everybody. I've just received my Bapty PR black and white photo (too sad we don't have access to the other views), and it made me remember an other old photo of the "plastiline" sculpt of the shrouds on the PR base. Anybody remember the source? Was it on the old forum or in a magazine? I had a look around and did not find anything. Any idea? Thanks Stephane |

Plastiline? Never heard of that? Do you have any more info? |

I know for sure that the art department did sculpt the shrouds in plastiline on a top of a resin copy (or the real one) of Bapty's PR prototype. I don't know if the sculpt have been casted to be used as a visual ref for the aluminium version or even as a blocking guide but I just remember seing a photo of this sculpture with a guy behind. Maybe Harry or Willie will remember it. It was a small image for whay I remember. I'm obviously looking for a high resolution version of it if the source photo is availlable offcourse. Stephane |

Aah, you mean Plasticine, the modelling clay. Not seen that pic on here. Can't recall seeing it in the extras on the DVDs/Blu-rays either. |

Like my Bapty photo??? I love it. Can't stop looking at it. What happened to the other views by the way? Don't tell me guys that I dreamed of this "plasticine" sculpture photo.... Stephane PS: plastiline and plasticine are both the same thing. Just a trademark difference. |

plastiline and plasticine are not the same thing , Plastiline is oil based , Plasticine is petroleum jelly based , and Plastiline is better to work with. |

There were three other Bapty photos, one of the opposite side, one looking at the underside of the grenade launcher and another from the front. Those have never been reproduced. |

aliensachive: I'm aware of the other views of the Bapty prototype photos. Now having the first one (thanks to you) I dream of the others to complete the set. Have they been lost? Sold to someone? Is there a way to have access to them again? I'm sure many asked before me but I had to ask. Glenn: As I've said, they are the same thing. Oil based clay. Name differences are really trademaks. And of course some modifications in formula to improve (or not) quality and finesse. Some with sulfur and some without wich is important to know for silicone molding. Plastilene (French formula by Claude Chavant) Plasticine (UK formula by William Harbutt) plastilin (German formula by Franz Kolb) plastilina (roma or prima from italy) And that is just for the artists vesrsions with similar names. A lot more can be found from big chemical companies used in industry. Willie: So I did not create that photo just in my mind. It does exist... Stephane |

I have a vague memory that the Plastilene sculpt may have had something to do with Alien War, I seem to remember seeing a photo of it in the Alien War London workshop. Harry |

Harry: Arrrggh... I had all my hopes on you and Willie. I'm still working (when my job gives me the occasion) on how to build my formed aluminium sheet PR shrouds and I wanted to compare the sculpt with the final shrouds. Stephane |

Not to get in a long a pointless argument here but if like me you have sculpted in both , then you will see a big difference between Plastilline, ( Chavant.) and Plasticine , also both react different to heat and cold , which is why most sculptors use Plastilline , rather than Plasticine . |

The original owner of them is propworld.nu, he still has the opposite side. The front and bottom photos were sold to a forum member many years ago before I had a chance to scan them. |

Philip7: Yep, that's one of them. Aliensarchive: Do you think propworld.nu would be interested by offering the forum copies of this right side view. Is he a friend of you. Glenn: as you said, pointless argument... But I know better all: still looking for the PR shrouds sculpt photo.... Stephane |

Is he a friend of you. I'm IMMENSELY interested! That would be perfect, to have that one in large size as well! maxhebus wrote: all: still looking for the PR shrouds sculpt photo.... Is it this one? ![]() That's the only one I could think of, it's from Alien War. Looks more like a plastic shroud though... Cheers! Roman |

I wonder what the person who bought the originals would think of that. |

As far as I am concerned there is no difference between copying a picture or moulding a prop, if you are unhappy with your purchase you can always ask for a refund. maxhebus: no I'm not and he probably wouldn't be, wouldn't hurt to ask though. |

b26354: I agree with you but I think there is still a difference between having the original and the others just having copies. It's like art. some people own the original and some companies are officially selling posters of them. The perfect situation would be this person offering the copies himself but we all know it's kind of a pain to organise the printing and send them. Some people don't want to go through that. So maybe he would not mind to pass those troubles officialy to someone else and why not aliensachives so everything would be re-grouped in the same place. aliensarchive: As you've been in contact with him in the past, would you mind to contact him?
