The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Anyone know the secret to keeping the shin/knee armor up? It keeps sliding down and I have to keep pulling them up.

Sounds like they're too short for your legs.

What should keep them up is the bottom edge resting on your bootlaces, as it were.

It's a couple inches shy of resting on boot. I'm 6' and have 'normal' length legs, I guess you would call it. I have Spat's armor.

I find it comfier to put the bottom edges of the armour just behind the tongue of my boot.
Hey, it does the job!

i padded mine out with a strip of thick foam down the front and back, and then antislip matting on top of that. that way, when the straps are pulled tight, it kinda moulds round my leg and stays in position

I had the same trouble with my biker scout knee armor.
If they won't rest on the boots try attaching some velcro to the BDU's (just a little) and maybe some elastic with velcro to the knee pad.
Velcro keeps it up and the elastic lets it stretch and stay comfortable.

Just an idea ;)

I have the same issue with my Spat leg amor.
I wonder if the new version leg armor is different ?
I am thinking a small tab of velcro on the inside of the knee would solve issues.

Aye, the new version of Spat's leg armour stays up much better than my old set.

I like the velcro idea. I'll have to see if I can hide it somehow on the BDU's. Match the color. The armor is great when it's on, but after I take a few steps, down they go.

Mine is a little slippy too, though not done anything about it yet. I think I need to trim the armour back a bit and add some extra foam inside.

Something I did do was to thread the webbing through the buckles different to "as supplied". The buckles wouldnt hold the webbing tightly originally, they kept slipping whenever I tried tightening the leg armour up.

I know what you mean. Mine does that too. I'm going to add some velcro to the webbing to fix that problem.

On my first gen Spat leg armor (the shorter version) I made a boot cuff that laced into the top of my boots. On the outside there was a bit of loop side (fuzzy) velcro. Then I glued some hook velcro on the inside front of the armor and after that they never drooped again.

Spats remastered shin armor is very nice, more screen accurate and quite a bit longer, so it should help those with longer legs. Definately worth it.

I was going to add some "sliders" to the straps, to thread the long strap (that goes around the leg) through it, then through the buckle. I'm thinking that will keep the webbing from sliding through the buckle. You will adjust it once to fit, and that should be good to go!

I've since switched to a thicker webbing that doesn't slip as easily, but for the thinner straps I tighten it to where I like it, and then put a drop of hot glue on the strap where it goes through the buckle. Holds it in place, but can be removed if you ever want to change it.

Hope that helps!
