The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

My search-fu fails me today. Anyone got an pictures/screen caps of Spunkmeyer's baseball cap? At least I think it's Spunkmeyer's cap - the one with the CAT logo on it?

Had this image because of the gyro on the table- but it does show a bit of Spunky's cap:

Image

The logo is the old Caterpillar logo "CAT"

Underneath it says "Diesel Power" and has the "scrambled eggs" on the peak.

Before D-Con I made an exhaustive search for one of these- because it is now vintage and the obsolete Caterpillar logo I couldn't find an exact match.

So I ended up getting one with a little more modern look:

Image

This one says "Lift Trucks" but mine says "Diesel Power".

Try searching for Caterpillar (hat, cap) on the bay- you could try using cat instead of caterpillar but it will bring up hundreds of unwanted hits (The Cat in the Hat thing).

Hope this hepls. :)

Are you 100% it's the word CAT?? Looking at this screen shot the 'A' is off centre to the right denoting more than a 3 letter word??

Or is that just me?

That might be because the patch is attached to a bowed surface.

I went for a more modern approach...

This is my favourite... says "Operator" on the left side of the bill.

This was my first one:

I found one on EBAY once and didn't buy it, and can't find it again. Large CAT logo, and underneath "Marine Power". Shoulda bought it, dammit.

Better?

To be honest I find the old style trucker hats are rather ugly by today's standards- guady high profile, back half plastic mesh, those 70s style plastic button clasps etc. If you are going SA more power to you, but I actually prefer a more modern lower profile, all cotton hat.

Dom- the first pic you posted is password protected... what folder is that in? 8)

John- Joe Ranger had the exact gyro back in '04. I had it in my posession for a bit after he left it behind at D-Con. I sold it on ebay for him.

You can find the gyro by searching for "kinetic" or "perpetual" motion.

Ahhh, but you know how style and clothing trends have a habit of repeating themselves. That logo could be the hottest thing in the Aliens universe. :)

Sorry for the off topic but adonis asked for the perpetual motion sculpture. I have one I bought years ago at Spencer's Gifts. However this link looks promising. I think there were a few different types of sculptures and they all may be found here at a reasonable price.

They might have had this made for the movie, I don't see the registered trademark symbol. They could have blacked it out I guess, but I haven't seen a skinny font like that.
Going back to the '70's CAT is much thicker and has the little R

Most on facebook know by now what I'm using it's very close. I removed the patch and am in the process of obtaining a SA CAT Deisel Power patch.

Here's it without the patch hanging on my MK 14a 8)

It's a good buy at £25 and it completes my costume nicely. :P
