The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I've been digging and digging and can't seem to find it anywhere, even the archives. Is there a definite color code for the reddish brown paint used on the armor? The humbrol list doesn't have one, and I know it's nowhere near the chocolate on the helmet.
Thanks!

No, not our beloved brown bess... There's another kind of reddish brown, notably on the breastplates. It's fairly prominent on current TE sets. Maybe reddish isn't a great descriptor. I guess it's more a medium/dark brown. More what you'd think of when you think of the color brown. At the moment all I know is it's not in the usual list.

Copy and Pasted from the archives....

30 Matte Dark Green
33 Matte Black
63 Matte Sand
98 Matte Chocolate
147 Matte Light Grey
170 Matte Brown Bess

Note that Bess Brown is not used on the armour itself, just accesories and other equipment. The above colours are in numerical order.

A note I have from Harry says that order of application is:

Marine Armour Colours (Humbrol, in order of application) 30 (Matt dark green.), 63 (Matt Sand), 33 (Matt black), 147 (Matt light grey), (although I have one list that has 148 as light grey) 98 (Matt chocolate - helmet only)

Not sure if anyone noticed, but Steve's T.E. armor has the brown on the main armor parts as well, does someone have pics of a SU armor suit?

I think we should take note that the "Matt 33 Black" actually isn't "black" at all. You can tell from the front pic of the armour and the "Frost" name stencil (which IS black).

The colour is actually a very dark green, nearly black- "Humbrol 91 Matt Black Green".

Those pics show the brown I was talking about. I was of the opinion that that brown was not "matte chocolate" after reading that it was used on the helmet only. Also, when I painted my stuff, the matte chocolate was a much colder brown, almost with a touch of violet, whereas all the pics and screenshots I've seen are a much warmer, reddish brown. Hence my question... Maybe I just got a really bum batch of matte chocolate?
