The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all

Does anyone know the dimensions of the metal washer used on the tracker.
I need
Diameter
Thickness
Diameter of hole in the middle
Diameter of the four small holes and their Pitch Circle Diameter.

I saw a link to a tutorial recently on constructing the tracker but cant seem to find it now. Anyone remember it?

Thanks guys

I used an already existing 2" washer on my Tracker.

I very much doubt that Terry Reed (who made the originals) would have made something that was already available - particulary in the limited amount of time he had to make the props.

The O/D and I/D of the tube in the drill body is needed to work out the P.C.D of the four hole's on a equal spacing.

or in english: The middle of the tube.

Also was that Number size of the holes?

I.E Number 40 is 2.489mm or .0980" inch

Also the thinkness of the sheet. I guess do the fact the U.S.A is Inch I would say it .040" (1mm).

Sorry for the Engineering talk, but being a Engineer detail is every thing and there are too many threads in the world.

I like Metric and BSP but you Americans Like NPT, UNF, UNC, NEF and NS.

The thing to remember that the props were built in the UK so materals, fittings and fixing were what we have here.

We have quite a wide variety of both imperial and metric items but things like screws etc are alot more common in metric. Same with material thicknesses, they are either in SWG or metric.

Metric in the main stream.
Imperial very much prevelant in Aircraft.

I like Metric measurement and BS.

Do you have any idea how much I'm dreading having to give up a good system to convert when I move the states!!??

@ neophyl. Cheer's for the information.

Luky I am or may not in some people minds I can work from metric to inches with out to much problem as I work with old English drawings and US drawings that are inches and new UK ones that are metric.

The real problem is tooling like tap's and die's and different nut's and screw's.

My PR that I been making is all metric but the Phil S front S.P.A.S cover block has none metric threads.

So that means a set of inches allen keys are need and not metric.
