got a few more parts done... The vest is pretty comfortable, and the arm needs a little tweaking spring wise, but actually holds the Smartgun quite nicely. all done as cheaply as possible, aluminium rescued from the skip at work, straps and fabric left over from another project, bolts 'donated' from the tool room at work etc  i'll hopefully be picking up the ammo drum for the SG this weekend, so will post up some pics of that next week

made a little more progress. its pretty slow going, as im doing most of the work during my lunch breaks at work its still pretty rough, but i've managed to get the springs/cables properly adjusted.  im abit worried that the arms might be a bit too long, but i'll just have to see how it moves when i bolt the SG to it the next piece im going to get done is the shrouds/covers for the arm. Russ - for now, the arm is just bolted to the vest. id like to make a quick release bracket at some point, but its not really a priority at the moment

Looks great! One suggestion for you... You might consider putting a sleeve of some sort over the top, rear bolt on your arm bones and allow the cable to ride on that instead of the hard edge of the top of the cover piece. The real isoelastic arms have a grooved roller at that point that the cable rides over. Not saying you will, but you might run into some wear/cutting of the cable. Can you invert your angle bracket 180 degrees and get the cable to run under the top cover? Looks good though! |

i've got some sheet aluminium sitting in the workshop all marked out to be the sleeve for the top what you can see in the pic is just the 'skeleton', so will all be covered.its hard to see in the pic, but there is actually a roller/pulley for the wire to run on. So although it looks very close, the wire doesnt actually touch the metal of the arm. Also, the wooden parts that you can see are only there for test fitting. I've got aload of 20mm aluminium blocks coming to replace them
