The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So, Its been about 2 years since I join this community and for 2 years i have been craving to get some USCM armor, but I was never able to save up. Then a week ago, I decided ill just make my own out of left over plastic that I had so I did, This is about 4 days work still not done still need to smooth it out but what do you all think?

Only thing I can see is the bright Eagle patch next to the armor....weather it up a bit ;)

Armor though - looking good!!!
What kind of plastic is it?
Relatively easy to form and cut?

Looking good! :D

I absolutely love the scratch builds. It really goes to show you what you can do with little to no money and limited resources. Great stuff! :)

How about letting us in on a 'how to'--Did you start with templates? How'd you form the plastic?

I plan on tackling some Aluminum armor this summer (maybe in time for Polaris!) so any hints on pre-fab would be appreciated.

Cheers
Craig

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I did do templates, general ones that I drew from looking at other people wearing the armor and movie stills. After the paper templates I transfered them onto the plastic, plastic I used is called Sintra or PVC forming board. Easy to bend with just a heat gun or boiled water. Heres a picture of how life started :D

And, Yes I do need to weather my BDUs :D
Oh, Does anyone have a general measurement of the length and width of the pauldron?

Excellent work Eagleskull! And you made this from nothing in four days?

My only comment (you did ask) is that those two trapezoid shapes on the front are far too pronounced. It's a mistake I've seen on other replicas too. On the real ones the breastplate is much smoother, with those shapes really not much more than a crease in the metal. Of course once it's all painted and done the edges get scratched and chipped, which brings them into sharper relief.

Apart from that - wow! :D

Wow, Thanks for all the kind comments :D Ya Mike I did notice that when i was looking at more pictures yesterday, weird how that look, I always thought it stuck out but when i saw a side picture noticed it was just smooth. When I get out of my game des. class, im going to add the buckles then the back plate before I smooth the bondo on the chestpiece to give it that more curve look, and that I have the right fit. That way I dont need to bondo then notice it doesnt bend right then crack the bondo..etc. haha I grown an liking to the smell of bondo :P

Small Update. I fixed the chest so that the trapezoid in the middle isn’t so defined now also making the side of the armor look curved then having the center pop out. I ran out of plastic big enough for the back plate, but I will be working on a cardboard template of the shoulder bells and the pauldrons.

I apologize for the rough look ran out of bondo so ill need to pick some up to smooth it out more but not so much I still want some rough for the battle damage :D

Looking good!

I'd try and use as little bondo as possible, especially in sections where it might flex. I used it on my Jinroh when I was trying to smooth stuff out and regreted it. That's just my two cents.
