The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I doubt it's the correct one, but it was a similar shape and moving very fast, so I imagine it was stripped down and engine modded to suit, like with the Aliens one.

Dunno how to find out which company did the work, unless someone's got the film and fancies looking through the lengthy credits? :wink:

Edit:

It's shown from 2:42 in this vid;

Do you have any sources that say that the tug in Aliens had engine modifications made for the film? I've never heard that, and it's the sort of thing I'd remember.

It's not the same model, and I'd imagine that a modern tugs would have a higher unladen top-speed because of hydrostatic transmissions, due to the requirements of busier airports? Alas, in Aliens and probably Casino Royale, the camera was under-cranked to make the tug go faster.

I'd be amazed if there was even one of the Hunslet ATT77's still running, let alone still in use? Maybe in the third-world somewhere? The model was rare, and was obsolete and being phased out by Heathrow in 1985.

Nice spot though - echoes of Aliens are everywhere!

Yeah about the engine- the real APC could only move a few mph at best. Any shots of the APC moving quickly were done with the scale model.

Oops, my bad. :oops: :D

I guess that shows just how good the model shots were. :wink: 8)

No worries. :)

And indeed the model shots were very well done and transitioned seamlessly to the full scale APC.

For instance the scene of the APC approaching the North Lock (just after Vasquez calls Gorman a pedejo jerkoff): The APC travelling across the ground is the model, then cut to the real APC coming to a halt at the North Lock.

If you watch the dvd with the commentary on- I think Cameron (and Hurd once I think) points out most of the scenes where it is the real APC vs the scale model.
