im starting to put together a new pulse rifle, and have found a deactivated thompson in a shop near me. its about the same price as an airsoft one, so what you guys think i should go with? the airsoft, or the real one?

Only problem with the de-act is you'll never be allowed to take it out on show... I'd say the airsoft. Those are atleast vaguely con-safe.

Why fire small plastic balls when you can cock and dry fire the real deal!

If the deact he's buying is the same cost as an AEG, it's going to be new-spec, so it can't be cocked and locked. The only benefit would be the metal weapon inside and the weight - that's it.

Reading Pete's comments I guess it really depends on what you plan to do with it.

Hang it on a wall or use it at shows.....

I'd say airsoft. If you decide you actually want to go skirmishing then you'll have an M41A to take with you.
If you won't be able to even take it out and there's no moving parts other than the mag comes out, then an airsoft will make for a much better prop. Depends on what your looking to do with it I guess.
