Well the last thing I should be doing right now is starting another personal project as I have a fair few projects for others on the go right now but I guess this will give me something to do on the one day a week I give myself for my own stuff. So I apologise if this build moves a little slow.

Anyway, the last couple of months ive been gathering the parts to build my own hero pulse rifle and thanks to HCG its been a little easier than expected. Below is a photo of all the parts I have in hand so far. Front GL block is in the bag and should be with me soon :) Only part i need to source now is the remmington 870.

Ok enough chat, heres a photo of the parts. If i get enough time later today I might make the 1st cut and cut the SPAS pump down to size. Im kinda bricking it :/

Thanks guys! Which parts are you referring to Matt? I dont have a bandsaw but I have a good eye and a steady hand :) Although I have access to a half decent workshop if need be.

Thanks Steve! Having all the right parts is half the battle (and makes the battle much much easier :) ).

Ok so I had a bit more time than I thought today so managed to cut down the pump grip AND start work on cutting down the HCG thompson and dry fitting it to the spas cage via Tom's adaptor. I test fitted everything into a shroud half to see how it fits. Not too bad but some parts still need tweaking.

Possibly one issue is the Tommin adapter between spas and the receiver, as I think the adapter is designed for an airsoft Thompson receiver, not the HCG one.

Matsuo will be able to confirm/deny this though, so don't take it as read. :wink:

Thanks Steve! Yeah I hacked off the big resin block at the front of the receiver so I could fit the adapter to it. I also had to dremel a "U" shaped indent underneath for the strip underneath the big metal block to lock into. Ill get some photos of those alterations up soon.

Ya, that's what I meant, you cut the receiver correctly, that big silly block on the HCG has to go...

Thin set superglue sticks to that resin like theres no tomporrow FYI.
In fact it grabs so fast you need to be sure whatever you are gluing is in perfect alignment or it's set for good and you'd have to break it to reposition

You sorted on where to cut the spas cage?

Also I see you have one of my early production shrouds, I didnt cut the counter windows on the early ones. make sure you base your hole on whatever counter you are using, too far forward and some of the board may show from under the shroud on some models.

Thanks for all the help there Matt! Good to know i cut the receiver in the right place :) Im so nervous making any cuts that i measure everything about 10 times before cutting.

Im refering to this page for the spas guard cuts. Is this still accurate or has there been any alterations since its creation?

just spotted this one well done mate it looks good so far, puts my poor effort to shame i have had a realy bad year health wise so mine is in dry dock at the moment i look forward to seeing this finished and with your skills i know it will be something special all the best mate Rob

I've used that page numerous times to cut numerous cages, its bob-on AFAIK.

Thanks guys! Jester I cant even begin to compare this build to yours. Yours is just on a whole new level, im just building a big model kit really :)

Ok little update. Had a spare hour today so filled in the cavity underneath the receiver for the barrel adapter with resin and drilled the holes. I wasnt sure if the resin would be strong enough to hold the screws in place but I test fitted everything and all seems to hold well :)

First I had to make some walls from styrene...

Resin can hold screws quite well. I use special taps, called helical or spiral flute taps to cut threads in resin. The grooves in the tap are helical and channel the chips back out of the hole minimizing the chance of stipping the threads. If you do strip the threads or over bore the hole, simply drop some superglue in the hole and sprinkle some talc or rsin dust in there and you can re cut the threads after it cures. I also have been known to use aluminum powder and/or glass microspheres ( a common filler) for that job as well.

I quite often dispense with threading the resin and just drill a hole 0.5mm smaller than the screw to be used.

Thanks for the tips guys! Well after having to removes and replace the barrel adapter a few times the rear screw now wont tighten (just keeps turning in the hole) soooo I was thinking of getting a couple of these....

Ive decided that this thompson will be a stand-in until I can source a higher quality replacement so I want everything to be removeable.

Those are more than adequate in fact ideal if you plan to to a lot of test fitting assembling and dis-assembling of the gun.
