Dear All, Hello. I'm a long term Aliens fan and I've only just found all this excellent fan research on the net after getting an iPhone and having the time to browse the stuff I'm interested in. For years I have been seeking the military drum roll music which starts faint and subtle as frost, Vasquez and drake prep the weapons. It increases in intensity as the marines board the apc and it reverses into the dropship and further intensifies with heavier drumming in the background as ferro counts down to the drop. Do any of you have this on mp3 which you could possibly share with me please? Kind regards, Pete (ilovethecorps) |

Yeah I had the old version on cd and assumed it was combat drop on the special edition version. I've just forked out £8.99 on iTunes for the album and it's not on there. Pity. I note on YouTube that someone has it as if you search on 'colonial marines dead on arrival' there's a trailer on-line with the track with someone getting kitted up in uscm kit emulating the kit prep scenes from aliens. I've read on comments on there making reference to it being referred to as 'military drum roll'. The one on the 'dead on arrival' trailer doesn't start subtly or end on a crescendo but it's the right music... |

It sounds like that YT vid just has a short bit taken directly from the film on loop. |

I used to have it on my old computer, and I pretty sure the version I had was fan-made with some sort of drum machine. I'm not completely sure where it is presently. |

I don't imagine it would be that hard to copy the track if you knew what to use... It's very atmospheric. I can see why it didn't get a look in for the album against the might of the orchestra used for the larger and more complex pieces. If anyone knows where I could get a track I'd be most grateful if they could dig it out. |

If you can find a YouTube video with the correct tune on it there is a website you can punch in the YT video link and it will automatically rip the soundtrack form the video and MP3 it for you! I know because I did it for my friends son who wanted the original Terminator theme (Non Orchestral version) as a ring tone on his phone and the only place we could find it was on a YT Video. I'll post the link when I'm on my main PC which is where I bookmarked the site. |

if you find the vid on yout uibe and use firefox install an addon called videodownloadhelper it rips audio from youtube videos |

I now have a looped version of the drumroll about a minute and a half long thanks to Mike. My quest continues as I still want the beginning part (used as Frost, Vasquez and Drake prep weapons on the SULACO) and the ending finale (as the Dropship is lowered into the airlock). So I'll let you know how I get on. I haven't found a youtube clip with it all on yet but there is one called 'Express Elevator to Hell' with the last bit on it... |

Use a prog like Audacity to cut the music file down to the length you want. Edit: unless you mean there's vocals/other sounds over the top of the music? |

Hi - yes there's all the speech and engine noises etc over the music as it's a clip straight from the film... Any ideas on editing them out... |
