The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello all,

Firstly, like to say a belated thank you to Vito, who i had a nice chat with at LFACC about pulse rifles and things.

Secondly, Im one of the many people who, ever since i first saw Aliens, wanted....no, needed a pulse rifle.

Ive always ummed and ahhed, its too expensive, its too much to pay for a 'model' etc.

Recently, events in my life reinforced the point that lifes fleeting, its short, and if you have goals, reach them.

So, yesterday, i finalised a deal for an airsoft thompson, and today ordered a G&P PR Kit.

Happiness!

(Oh, and know i might be mad, with the ARES version announced, but it could be vapourware, or a crock. On the off chance that they produce an all metal AEG/shotgun combo with working counter and proprietary magazines, there may be a little bit of crying.)

Hey Matt.

Glad you finally managed to inquire here about Pulse Rifles. Plus it was my pleasure. I was mostly getting random people tugging at my shoulder lamp. But it was nice for you to inquire.

Ask anything freely. Hope the chat we had helped.

Callum

Nice one, chap!!

Check out PVB's guide to assembling the G&P Kit, which is far superior to the instructions they supply with it ;)

Thanks all, and hi again Callum, it was nice of you to hand over $$$ of upgraded PR to a total stranger!

The HCG? Its beautiful, but it has one, for me, crucial difference - it dosen't fire anything!

Ok, small round things dont usually work against your Xenomorth, but hey, its a start!

Plus, i can take it skirmishing. Wrapped in cotton wool.

luckily the g&p kits can handle skirmishing, as for bb's not doing much to a xeno watch abe run when u let rip with them lol, mind u he is impervious to foam darts as proven at war and peace when the mad max lot appeared

I had been studying PVB's guide quite a bit before deciding on this route.

I do have a question for you PR builders.

Is it possibe to leave the grenade totally out of the build, and still have the launcher rack?

I'd like it to simulate an empty chamber more than a grenade.

I believe so, yes.

Look on Page 10 of PVB's guide.
The 'breech block' is basically just a tube that moves back and forth, with a grenade inside. Take that out and you'd still have the 'working breech' effect, as far as I can see.

Ttaskmaster - thanks for that, i looked at the guide very quickly at work and couldn't be sure (saw the pic in the guide you referenced) so thought id ask.

Assimilate - well i guess that shows how observant i am! Mind you the only thoughts going through my head at the time were 'Wow! Finally got to check out a build' and 'DontdropitDontdropitDontdropitDontdropit'!

I believe the G&P "grenade" shell is just glued in place, so removing it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Welcome to the site!

I know it's been mentioned before here, but do you have a link to the Ares version?

No problem. Is going to be interesting - personally i think its either going to be vapourware, or will be staggeringly pretty but not that great out of the box.

Oh, and got my shipping comformation today! :D

Here you go Nick, there a little better but my camera seems to be playing up a bit ;

Image

Image

Got home today and noticed the shell ejection port had slipped back a bit - fiddled a bit and it popped off the grip connector which then came adrift - thought it might be broken, but after stripping the PR down again it had just come loose, so took the oppotunity to glue it together for a bit more strength.

However, while it was all apart i decided to try and improve the metal port a bit. It came with a very odd sparkly finish - it actually managed to look like anything but metal. Spent 20 minutes with the dremel and a poloshing tool and got it looking a little more realistic - IMO it improves the grenade launcher 100% and makes it look a little less toy like.

Image

So now i've been spending my time looking at armour - im checking the PX every 10 minutes!
