The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

...check this place out.

http://www.jontay.com/hardware/military ... 20drab.htm

I haven't ordered from them (yet) but they have sizes up to 2", and since you need 1.5" buckles for the sides of the armor, and 1" ones as well, it's a good place to look. Price
seems to be about "regular" US retail price for the black versions. They're a little more
rounded and less square, but they ARE already OD.

Also, here's another option for 1" buckles:

http://shop.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=561508

Those come with webbing already attached. Price is a little higher, but you
don't need to buy OD webbing after that.

Hope those help.

Russ

Locally I can find tons of black ones, but not the ones already cast in OD green, which is why I thought I'd share. :)

The top link also has access to OD cotton webbing. Price is kind of high at I think $3 a yard (or is it per foot, I forget...)
but it IS cotton webbing and not the more commonly found nylon. You'd only need like 4-6 feet of the 1.5" stuff to do a complete
suit of armor anyway. :)

Yep. Some of the webbing was black painted green as well. :)

And thanks for pointing me at the Sportsmans Guide ones originally. :)

THe stap sizes from SG vary, but the last batch we got they were like 6 feet each, and you get 20

Yes but the screen used painted ones weren't OD ... FYI those clips do come in that weird bright green color. At least we could easily get those by the hundreds if it came to ordering those from factory (we wouldn't sell clips though).

Apparently the price wasn't that much higher since they are now completely SOLD OUT. :o

Although not screen-accurate, I think they are a much better substitute for the basic black -- and to be honest, I was never really a fan of the green-painted black buckles no matter how screen-accurate they were. Green-painted OD buckles will have a much better 'worn' look to them in my opinion.

Check any military surplus/camping/outdoors or hardware stores. Possibly even larger craft or fabric stores.
Usually the side release/fastex buckles can be found near where you can buy the nylon webbing
or strapping materials.

Here in Minnesota, the 1.5" buckles in black cost between $1.49-$1.69 each.

To get everything at one time, ordering online is probably your best bet.
