The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

A friend would like to put together a WY Commando costume. Can anyone think of the items required to make one? I'm thinking that cricket pads were used for padding..?

I can't seem to find Darren's thread, but there are a couple here which should help:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3604&hilit=+weyland

viewtopic.php?t=880&highlight=shock+troops

Jacket is a white N2B parka (or at least based on one for the film- for all intensive purposes it would be easier to get an N2B rather than have one custom made).

Trousers are A-11 flight trousers.

Padding- if it wasn't actual cricket padding, then cricket padding would be close enough.

Helmet and backpack will have to be scratch made. Or you could buy one of Terry English's helmets... how much were they again?

Hope this helps!

Kevin

All the clothes were custom made but based on the N2B jacket and A11D trousers as stated so it would be as easy to buy them. You will also need a 4 inch or so wide belt. I used a weight lifters support belt. You could buy cricket pads or custom make the padding as I did. Basically you'll just need material, wadding and strapping. Also they wore plastic shin protectors on the front. I used police riot ones and cut the knee part off. You'll also need some buckles and webbing for attaching the arm padding to the jacket. Again I custom made the arm padding. As for the helmet I bought one of Terrys but that's obviously the more costly option. I never did make the back back though. It had some weird angles going on and I didn't have time to do it before filming began. Lastly you need some grenade stats around the wrists over the padding and a couple of smoke cans to hang on the front.
Cheers
Darren

Anubian made one of these costumes himself and it looked pretty nice. You could PM him for more info.
