The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Happy Saturday all :D

With regards to soft cover Insignia, is there a general consensus
as to what is acceptable?

1. For the USMC, the 8 point soft "covers" have the USMC "EGA"
(Eagle, Globe, and Anchor) printed in the center panel.

2. For the USN and U.S. Army, a Black anodized rank pin is worn centered on the frontal aspect of the cover, this holds true for USN personel attached to the USMC (Corpsman , Chaplin, Chaplains assitantS ).An embroidered sew on can also be utilized,

3. Seeing that the U.S.C.M. utilizes U.S. Army pattern rank stripes, I would propose the Utilization of either the appropriate black anodized pin-on device, or a sew-on embroidered insignia, again comprised of the appropriate number of chevrons.

4. I plan to sew a name tape to the back of my 8 point cover along the band, as well as blocking and starching it.

How about some input from everyone, most especially from our leadership cadre'.

Well I have the 8 point covers done by MAA.
1 with the Delta on it.
1 with the printed EGA
1 plain ( I put the Brass pin on rank in it like my Jungle hat )

Gorman had a subdued rank pin on his OG 507 ballcap, so that's screen accurate (although he wore the rank sideways. :) ).

I put a black ssgt rank pin on an OD ballcap (not a typical baseball cap but a closer facsimile to the OG 507)...

And left it in the rear window of my car all summer. Now it looks practically white. :(

I was going to start a topic called "How to bleach something without bleach".

Anyway I never really did wear it a lot so no big deal (at least it looks "weathered" ).

I do wear my black Sulaco cap ("Apone's ballcap") often.

As far as real EGAs go- we tend to shy away from actual USMC insignia as we don't want to step on any toes, or offend the real Marines.

For instance I put together a custom USCM Dress Blues uniform two years ago. The consensus was to remove any real EGAs, and USMC rank insignia. I used Army rank insignia (keeping in line with Army rank patches in the film), plain brass buttons, and custom Delta pins.

I have one of MAA's covers with the EGA on it- but I put a "Screaming Eagle" pin over it- not sure if they are still available though...

On our 8 pt covers we made a stamp that looks like the eagle side of the coin
