The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I did a search for boots, but came up short. Is there a spcific brand/type of footwear for the Marine? I have a pair of old Corcoran II's from my old Army days. Will these work?

And what's the story on BDUs?

For the boots, any Viet Nam ear boots will fit the bill, namely the "Panama" sole type.

What that last part means I've never understood. Apperaently there is a certain style of treads on the bottom named "Panama", and that is supposedly the scren used boots. But you'll be lucky to find some. There are many knock off boots that look just like them that are made to this day and are often what you find at most Military surplus stores....like these.

I wear USMC Belleville ICB, and Canadian Forces WWB... the choice is up to you. BUT if you're looking for screen accurate, the jungle boot is your friends.

BDU? Well, you can go screen accurate... Look up the owner of scifimilitary.com for a set (just don't get on his bad side) or else, GET WHAT YOU LIKE! :) That's what I did... Safariflage is a big hit amongst marines... or else just go... bananas.

So jungle boots with Panama soles. Got it. What are the differences in soles?

Green or black canvas version? Or does it matter? I'm all for accuracy, but I prefer the black canvas sides.

Green is screen accurate.

My jungle boots are all black (screw up with shipping/order), but at the end of the day, I don't think most people.

I ditch the helmet, too. I go with a headset, much lighter for a day in costume.

Correct Boots are Altama OD with vibram sole.

Panama soles are the more chunky treads that are
easy to get. I haven't seen a screen cap with these
being used.

They are on sale:

Bdus search:

MenatArms makes replicas in cotton twill (accurate) or
nylon/cotton ripstip (comfortable in warm weather)

Here's some picts of my ripstop bdus with silkscreen patches
via OD velcro.

Ash, have you considered maybe wering a flak jacket with the safariflage pants and T-Shirt..? Might be a good substitute.

There's plenty of them on eBay.

Hey all ... I am still alive (like anyone cares, LOL)

Anyhow ...

I have a set of MAA 2PAT BDUs in Large. They are brand new, never worn, and have been packed away while I finished the Academy and moved. Why do I mention this?

Because, I was a little dumb when I ordered, and I probably needed an XL. The pants are too short, and the shirt barely tucks in. I thought I'd see if anyone has the same problem, and would want to maybe swap an XL set for my L set. I have the helmet cover too.

I held off sewing on any patches, etc until I decided what I was going to do. Brand new, never worn.

Aaaand, I am a dummy sometimes. They are Mediums, not large.

I was curious though, where do you get the OD velcro to attach patches semi-permanently?
