The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

The latest news is that Scotts vision will involve the Jockeys and that the film will very very nasty and horrific.

Their also has been rumours floating around the films are actually two movies and that the alien wont appear until the very end.

Mark Strong has said he wants to be in the new Prequel. Hes worked with Scott before so a good chance he may be in it.

From what i can gather from all the snippets of news and stuff is this:

Humans are in ttheir infancy of interstellar travel and colonisation. A company: Weyland (pre Yutani) is exploring a distant world (Possibly Zeta 2 Ret, aka LV426.) They encounter the Space Jockey race, living, breathing etc. Said humans encounter with the SJ's is possibly horriffic and nasty. During these events they are introduced to the ALIEN. Havoc ensues...

Interesting... I really hope Giger is brought on for this!

I know the Alien Harvest script has been debunked by reliable members of this board, still this article does raise some interesting thoughts.

How many re-writes! I thought they had an agreed script and story already!

I see the 'pulling and snatching' at the project has begun... :(

Ridley Scott is in talks with Bond girl, Gemma Aterton to be the 'new' Ripley ie, the lead heroine for the new prequels.

Ralph 'Alien 3's Aaron 85' Brown tweeted this morning that the Alien Prequel has set up a pre production office @ Pinewood Studios where he's filming.

I know the Alien Harvest script has been debunked by reliable members of this board, still this article does raise some interesting thoughts.

I stumbled on this as I was reading through some of the information I was un-aware of with this movie.

I gotta be honest I hope this is not true, I hope Alien Harvest is really not the Prequel, I'm already upset enough that they are doing a prequel instead of spinning into the Post-Aliens-era where (in my opinion) there are much richer stories to be told. Particularly after how brilliant the subtle Alien-cult in the Alien 3 director's cut showed.

A story involving that would be classic!

I was not a huge fan of the Alien Harvest script though, I really did not like the fact that it was essentially 2 completely un-related stories. It came off as kind of a documentary more than a real movie. As if the writer wrote a short story about terraforming and the origin of the Xenomorph and found it wasn't long enough for a movie, so he padded in a second short story about FTL travel and made it a B-story.

Not to mention while I acknowledge the sexual tones of the Aliens (I myself wrote a paper about it in under-grad instead of reading Handmaid's tale, go me!), the sexuality in this script is beyond ridiculous. What made the tones so good in the previous movies was that it was subtle, that fear of rape and child-birth was so masked and perfectly wrapped in the Xenomorph. In that script its almost pushed in your face to the point where it looses its subtle brilliance and becomes like a HR Giger Jack-ass skit, where its thrown out as shock-value.

I have faith in Scott, but if Alien Harvest is the real script... I got a feeling it may be another major blow to this franchise that has really not recovered its legitimacy since Alien Resurrection came out.

I very much doubt the Alien Harvest script is the one being filmed. The AH script was for one film. They have announced there will be two. With a possibility of a third. It sounds from the various reports that they are going with the long muted idea that the Space Jockeys have developed the Alien as a Bio-weapon.

I'm still hoping that we shall see something like Giger's Neconomicon full horror vision come to life.

I've always thought that the Alien is made up from the DNA of many vicious spieces all blended together. And that the humans are the final element. You see the Space Jockey horifically and very Giger like way, mutilate the humans to make the Alien. That be really great to see.

I really hope that we see the Space Jockeys develop the Aliens as a Bio-weapon in the script, I hope that was their reveal for the origin.

It would fit better with the over-arching themes, particularly if Giger is allowed more reign to develop the various forms.

I will say this though, the fact that the AH script was for 'one film' doesn't comfort me in this regard. If you ask me every Alien script up to this point has been self-contained, yet there have been 4 movies. Just because it doesn't end on a cliff-hanger or in 'LoTR' fashion doesn't mean a sequel isn't there to be had. I actually think self-contained scripts are the way to go no matter what you plan on doing, cliff-hangers are annoying and whats worse is that regardless of what Scott says the 2nd Alien prequel depends on the success of the first. Not to mention this series has a nasty habit of disappearing for years.

I'd rather have one self contained story and leave the theater thinking 'Where is Scott going to take this?' than leaving the movie unsatisfied with a cliff-hanger.

I'm not saying that the AH script is it, I actually doubt that (although its a hopeful doubting). I am just saying Scott saying he is going to do 2 or 3 Alien movies doesn't jive for me.

Agreed, but I can atleast hope that the AH script isn't the one being filmed.

We are already at a year out though? *excited*

Also, I like your art.
