The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Forgive me if i seem a tad thick, but although i can see something biomechanical, i cannot at att make out anything remotely 'alien' about it at all.

Agreed. It has "obvious" small eyes, nothing like the large eyes of the Necronomicon "Alien". To me, the shape in the landscape looks more like a Space Jockey.

However, I think it's just pareidolia ("seeing shapes in clouds") acting on a biomech style landscape.

Isn't it rather out of scale if it is a Xeno/Biomech given that the second smaller and closer, in perspective terms, ring is meant to be Kane and Lambert?

The upper circle is the beastie, the lower circle is supposed to be Dallas and Lambert.

I think Abe's comment about pareidolia is pretty close to the mark I mean if you look directly below the upper "ring" I can see something that looks almost as much like a Xeno/Biomech as the area ringed!

(scroll down.)

I guess this would have happened.

Alien Prequel hits a stumbling block over rating and cost.

Fox want as cheap as possible and a 15 rating. Ridley says no way in hell 18 rating and big budget.

FUCK YES!

Finally someone acknowledged the Alien 3 situation!

The original version of that movie was so fucking good, the studio/editor ruined that film.

As far as the rating, I would hope Fox learned their lesson... I am not sure what he is talking about with Alien 3, which was still rated R here, and I am unsure about Alien: Resurrection.

Either way, AvP was a bust in the box office and the primary complaint levied against it was the tame nature given to two film series which have been dark and violent.

Given what Fox did with Predators, I would assume they are given the same greenlight to Scott. Any rational business-man should conclude it results in a better movie.

Latest rumour is that new actress Noomi Rapace is to be the new lead heroine for the prequels.

Note: does she look like a young Siggy Weaver or what!

yeah the right part, i just dont think that she would fit the part that well is all. i mean shes just to pretty to be in the uscm, i feel like that role should b played by some one more plain looking is all. rip, ferro, deitrich, and vaz didnt wear any make up but still looked good in their roles. idk how to explin it, i just feel like she wouldnt fit the rol that well, and yeah i pretend SW ep1-3 never happened.

Portman was fantastic in V for Vendetta. She is a great actress, and she must be in hae late 20s by now. Sigourney was in her early 30's when she played Ripley. (If im not mistaken.)

No i cant see her playing a marine. A scientist or starship crewmember but not a marine. I dont think we are looking at another Aliens anyway.

Wasn't Segourney in her 20's when the first film was made?

Unless the USCM's promotion schedule has changed compare to the real USMC, there's no way in
hell a 20-something anyone would be a General. I don't care if your daddy is the president of the USA and your
last name is Weyland... It's not happpening. ;)

She was born Oct 1949, so she would have been 28-29 during filming.

Natalie Portman was born June 9 1981 making her 29 this year,
same age as Weaver when she was filming Alien ... interesting 8)

You guys know Portman's attached to pretty much every script and project in development right now? A studio exec saying they WANT Portman or Jolie or whoever for their project is like any of us waking up and saying, "I hope there's oxygen today." Gotta love the internet news cycle...

Whoa wait what? AVP made 172 Million on a 60 million budget. I dunno how you can call that a bust, unless you're talking about all the hardcore fans (you know us) hating it.....

During WW2 at 33 years of age Edward J. Timberlake Jr was promoted to General, so if they beefed up Natalie Portman's age a little, via make up or whatever, I could buy it......
