Resurrected from the dead while I was looking at some old threads ;)

A comparison of our hated...er, beloved Humbrol Bess Brown and some other readily(?) available alternatives. Bang for the buck still goes to Aervoe 999 Earth Brown in my book ;)

edit: Just saw Jon's thread (viewtopic.php?t=2896) about matching Tamiya....If you've got the airbrush, that's a BITCHIN' match!!! If you want $5 for a rattle-can, #999's still the ticket :)

i dont own an airbrush and being in the uk means alot choice on the rattle cans is poor, so i decided to adapt and try something with:
humbrol dark drown 29 (150ml spray)
humbrol dark green 30 (150ml spray)

i gave the build im making a coat of the dark brown, and then light misted the green - it was enough to have the brown colour but also then give the green tinge in certain lights

maybe a handy tip there for non airbrush owners in the uk

I think some pics of the results of your paint job would be helpful for people decide if it's a viable alternative.

only pic i took at the moment - differs in the light - some lights its brown, other lights it has the green hint in it, other lights its a darker brown - bear in mind this is my first model i have made, and the first item i have sprayed (non airbrush owner) so to spend £100 upwards for 1 project wasnt a viable option for me.

ill await the purists to shoot me down but im more than happy with the colour - i didnt want to choose a brown or a green - i wanted my cake and eat it so if this proves useful to anyone so be it - im sure ther pros out there could get an awesome result if tried. the mist from the rattle cans spray was very fine so there are no noticable dots.
