The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Howdy,

I'm looking to make myself a xenomorph costume. Looking for leads on latex masks, hands, feet, yada, yada, yada.

I'm starting from scratch. Completion date goal: DCon in Atlanta.

/salute

Hey Jennifer.

If you are aiming for DCon 2007, then you are going to have to do something amazing to make it in time. It took me 6 months to make one from a kit, and I wasn't working (student) at the the time.

I was originally planning to sculpt one from scratch, but after making a pair of feet from scratch I realised that it could take years to make a full costume.

However, now that I have a costume I am re-considering the idea of making my own. The only problem is, by the time it is finished, middle-aged-spread may make it impossible to wear it! ;)

BUT ... I invite you to prove me wrong! I have a few good mask/latex casting links on my computer at my parents house. I will post them up as soon as I can.

I am hoping to find a decent head, hands, feet and try making the rest (liquid latex to help) if I can't afford anything close to the wicked bug posted above.

I don't want to do a Marine or Pred like some of my friends are doing. So far I'm the only bug, or bug-wannabe.

Hi Jennifer, and welcome to the Aliens Legacy... just to put who you are in context to all the other marines...

- Jennifer is Frank (teckwolf's) wife, and she is planning to be our very own bug on board the USS MacDonald.... Canadian-marine staffed battleship.

I'd take care to get help from Scott ( aka falken108 ) if I were you Jenn, Scott's from T.O. and shipping to Ottawa shouldn't be that much, eh?

I think Jay has changed his email address. Jay Boden is the guy that makes the Alien suit kits like the one that I used to make mine.

The bit before the @ is now "monsterroomprops" and the bit after is "msn.com"

Tks Pug, I've sent an e-mail to the address you've suggested to see if I get a response. If not I'll try the other one on AOL.

Great! It's a lot of work (and quite a lot of $$$), but it is definitely worth it!

I trust you have seen Jez's website: www.aqpa87.dsl.pipex.com/scifihelmets/building_an_aliens_costume.htm

And my website:
www.aliencostume.co.uk

Both have loads of tips for putting Jays kit together. Jez's site has a proper tutorial-it was a great help to me!

Here are my pictures of the kit, as it is delivered: www.aliencostume.co.uk/construction/kit_images/index.shtml

I really like what you've got on your site Gareth. Thanks for the other URLs too. I've got lots of help I'm going to be able to rely on in order to finish my costume.

Now to draw some line sketches on paper, so that I can experiment with colours before I actually get the kit.

Oh it's good to be bad!

Hey Loki,

This may sound like a bit of a personal question, but where did you get your head? Or is it custom?

A guy on the Predator board made it. DB is his screen name.

Hands, feet, tail, chest and back are Monsterroom, the body is custom made. Took me about 3 months.
