Yea, even deinterlaced it's no doubt better than the HDTV rip I have, which has it's share of issues. There are places in the movie that have Japanese subtitles for a split second that dissapear. Even so i'll take it any day over the one I had before which was terribly pixelated. If I have a chance to get the other version I will, but hopefully it just sees a blu-ray release finnaly. HDTV rips CAN be excellent when done right however, Aliens holds its own against any other legit 720p film I have, its the best version i've ever seen, and I also have Jurassic Park in 1080i which was broadcast on the Canal+ FilmHD network and it's incredible. Right now it's the only way to get these in HD so i'll take what I can get, save for finding a copy of Alien on D-VHS and blowing the dust off my deck.

Oh, only thing that sucks is my copy of Aliens thats in 720 isn't the directors cut so no turret footage.

Only reason I still keep my regular copy around.
