The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I have a copy of both Alien and Aliens in HD 720p video, and can take any screencaptures that might be needed. These are both taken from an HD Broadcast of the film as neither have seen a blu-ray release, which is partly why I am offering. Here are some examples from both films respectively.

There is a 720p rip of ALIEN going about that is sourced from a pre-recorded D-VHS D-Theater HD tape. It's noticeably much clearer than the HDTV-sourced Aliens/A3/A:Res 720p rips.

Well the copy of Aliens I have is excellent quality, but my copy of Alien could be better. It's much much clearer then the DVD copy I had, but Aliens is noticeably better quality and they're both supposed to be the same resolution. I've heard about the D-Theatre edition of Alien before, I thought it was in 1080i format. I havent been able to find one, it's hard to get and pretty expensive. So if the D-theatre rip is in 720p I don't think it's legit, not to mention those decks had copy protection and i'm not sure if it was ever cracked. I will do some looking around.

Oh, and for the longest time I always thought Hicks was saying "Where's Bowski?" Poor Weirzbowski.

Aye, it's deinterlaced, badly in places, down to 720p. Still searching for a raw bitstream rip of it :( but D-VHS uses the first version of DTCP and it's well broken.

However, the one I have is much better than the HDTV version of Aliens that I have. Maybe the BluRay will come out one day (maybe with a kick-ass documentary on it too?)

And yes, I always hear "Where's 'Bowski."

Yea, even deinterlaced it's no doubt better than the HDTV rip I have, which has it's share of issues. There are places in the movie that have Japanese subtitles for a split second that dissapear. Even so i'll take it any day over the one I had before which was terribly pixelated. If I have a chance to get the other version I will, but hopefully it just sees a blu-ray release finnaly. HDTV rips CAN be excellent when done right however, Aliens holds its own against any other legit 720p film I have, its the best version i've ever seen, and I also have Jurassic Park in 1080i which was broadcast on the Canal+ FilmHD network and it's incredible. Right now it's the only way to get these in HD so i'll take what I can get, save for finding a copy of Alien on D-VHS and blowing the dust off my deck.

Oh, only thing that sucks is my copy of Aliens thats in 720 isn't the directors cut so no turret footage. Only reason I still keep my regular copy around.
