The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well.

Just recently i've bought something new since i've technically finished collecting my marine gear. I though hey why not start something new.

Anyways straight to the point.

I would like to welcome to you Ladies and Gentle folk, Grunts, Xeno's and Predators.

A new edition to the Bio-weapons Devision.

ARNOLD T. ALIEN

the head...................................................

Image

Arnold's head is about 3ft in length and is made of fiber glass and resin. Miled heavy and very strong.

Arnold needs a touch up and these are the few things that he needs. Arnold has alot of airbubbles that need filling. Needs a tooth here and there replacing. A good touch up of paint and then obviously a new body.

So i need something to help fill the air bubbles and if i'm guessing right molding putty for the teeth.

Any help and feedback. Please much needed.

NEW PROJECT, NEW PICTURES SOON.......

Cheers

Callum

OK, as an aside; I read your thread and then found this posted on Twitter immediately after, and thought it was relevant in a perverse way:

However, I really don't know much about working with resin, so I can't be any more help than that! ;)

Tut, tut. Teenagers hey!

Well, Arnold is well behaved. He's learnt well from his creators and UNCLES "ABE, ALAN and AXL"

Thats a good cartoon strip Gareth.

But yeah, sorry on topic. All i need to know is what to use as a filler for the airbubbles and the teeth.

Cheers

You can either use Milliput, Apoxie Sculpt or for larger areas P38, although P38 is quite smelly whereas the other two aren't. P38 also sets quicker than the other products so it's not so good for fine detail sculpting/filling.

Hope that helps,

Harry

So, as you can see, Arnold is on the re-creation.

Image

I've used alot of P38 for fine and large missing pieces. This lil Xeno will be done by next week. WooooooHooooooo.

So the first picture shows the Jaw re-filled with P38 and sanded down quite nicely i'd say, the teeth have been reworked and it's been primed. And the head has had a good fix of P38 and my excellent sculpting skills managed to give it a not perfect but more skeleton main on the head. I wanted it to be less pefect since it shows how alienated the Xenomorph is.

This next picture is a close up of the Jaw for reference.

Image

And then the continuing of the sculpting which i'll get the sander on tomorrow then prime.

Image

After this i plan to paint it Matt Black, Lacker it, Glue the jaws together and then add the Latex gums "Condoms". Then oze it up with abit of clear lacker glue giving it the realistic effect.

More pictures to come next week. :D

Cheers

Callum

As Harry sair Milliput will work great for the teeth

Also if the air bubbles are small I use a drop of Cyanoacrylate ( super glue ) the thick
gap filling kind. For most holes one drop should do........

Looking good Callum, can't wait to see the finished bug!

Been tempted lately to do one myself to be honest; lost a few stone now so should be able to squeeze into one! Seeing this getting built might just tip the balance... :)

Right,

The teeth have had a coat of white paint for when i apply the Silver Saturn Finish. So this picture is a head up for Arnold.

Next is the Silver saturn finish, Deep filler, Latex Gums, Golden Gloss "All the slimy bits" and then the clear lacker. =]

Hope you like it.

Cheers

Hey Chappies,

Arnold's head is now finished. Sadly there were to many fiddley bits to get all the tendons around the mouth but i think i've done an amazing job.

Enjoy.

Love the look of the tendons mate. Are they static or will they stretch? Good on the build mate. Any idea when you will have a finished suit?

Cheers

Very nice mate!

I'm interested to see if those tendons will stretch too!

Thanks Peeps!

Sadly the tendons will only strech about one inch then they cack out. Experimented.......

But i'm happy with the finished piece. Hopefully they can be replaced in time with something stronger.

Glad you like it. Darren, the suite hopefully i can find one. But for the time being it's and on going Project.

Thanks

Callum

Looks great! I love the tendons. At least yours stretch a little bit though, mine are made from ceram wrap so they don't stretch at all!

Can't wait to see a bug suit with this.

Probably just stretched too much in their static state, so need to be a bit looser to start with, but an awesome job all the same. :D

Problerm is condoms are meant to stretch width wise, not so much lengthwise. Get Magnums ;)
can you use surgical tubing? or does it now have the right look? that stuff will stretch forever, works good on slingshots :P
