The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

if it's one of us first come first served no point putting extra money in a sellers pocket to beat one of our own number.

Stew - thanks for being such an honourable guy... We know what you meant with this, but the rules are "No mention of live auctions".
Even you posting this thread could have pointed other folk who didn't see the auction to it - And remember, there's far more members here than actually post, and some of the unknown lurkers may not be quite so honourable.

If you recognise a username on eBay, then great.
Or if you know of someone looking for an item, - PM them.
But please, don't even allude to live auctions. That way it's fair for everyone.

I have mixed emotions about this rule but I figure its for the best. I just picked up a mint Bronica lighter for $40 on ebay. Just takes vigilance.

We debated it long and hard, but this really is the fairest way.
After all, would you not be raging if someone had mentioned your lighter auction at the last minute, and someone here gazumped you?
You'd be miffed at both of them - Naturally so, but not really legitimately.

So much for being noble. I took the rule to mean no post links to live auctions. My apologies to all.

Here's an interesting thought... can we start a thread with everyone's ebay screen name in the OT? Like this we won't compete with family for an item.

I think you're right....so you can't contact a current bidder and offer them your item (I know I'm guilty of it).

I didn't even think of that.....DARN!!

Aye, one thing I was thinking about was perhaps a sticky "WTD" thread, but it'd really have to be inside the Base PX area.
Each user could have one post inside the thread, with a list of what they're looking for so if someone else stumbles across it they can give them a heads-up.
Problem is, whoever gets the first post is always gonna get the first PM unless someone spots something they know their mate is after - Which defeats the point of such a thread anyway.

So, aye...
As you were, Marines.
