Where the slings used in the film Vietnam era M-16 slings? I seem to remember that they were, but my memory could be faulty.

Basically the slings are custom made.

They consist of Olive Drab seatbelt webbing. (4,5,8 stripe mixed)

Mostly 8 stripe is on screen time.

Clips come from various British gear (58 web kit, sterling slings, gas mask bag)

slide hardware is mixed with metal and plastic.

PX is an older US military base designation that stands for 'Post Exchange.'
enlisted personnel could buy standard convenience store supplies
on base rather than going out in public. And since the military is all
fired up about using obscure designations to confuse people, in
other countries the 'PX' has also been known as 'CanEx'
or 'CanAm' or 'NAAFI.'
