Hey all,

I've been building costumes for conventions for several years now, and I've done some work with latex in the past. But I've never done much work with resin or fiberglass. Given, I tried to make a Predator bio helmet last year from resin, but the results were far from spectacular.

Lately, I have been giving some thought to trying to build my own replica flame thrower from Aliens. Since there are so many talented folks on this board, I figured I'd start here. I know I would need to sculpt the weapon from some kind of clay, make molds, then use the resin or fiberglass for the final replica. But any specifics about the sort of materials I should use, and how I should go about doing this would be appreciated!

actually you wouldn't have to make the entire thing out of resin, the barrel i guess you could call it is an M203 grenade launcher shroud, and the reciver is an AR15 reciver flipped around witht he carry handle on it, so I would start by getting those pieces and taking it from there, you can get a cheap airsoft M16 and the launcher shroud for airsoft conversion kits for fairly cheap.

I just think it would be easier to just make the parts that were added on out of resin instead of having to mold the entire thing
