I apologize if this is in the wrong section, Ready Line sounds like the best place to me though.

So my PR has a bit of a crack in the body from UPS, and I was wondering if anybody might have some know-how on how to fix something like this. Here are some pics for reference to show the damage, any and all information is greatly appreciated.

What material is the shroud made from? That would help a lot.

I always thought the G&P shroud was made from injection-moulded styrene, is that right?

I'd use Cyanoacrylat (Superglue) to fix the crack. After that I'd reenforce the area with a piece of sheet styrene from the inside. Use a good two component glue (Stabilit Express for example) and sand both contact areas with some coarse sand paper before appication.

or you could try jb weld , that stuff works remakably well , and then reinforce it in the back like bugstomper said with a sheet of styrene and some two part epoxy

Not entirely sure what it is, but I'd like to say it's some sort of fibre plastic, one way or another. I'll probably try what you said, Bug Stomper and Potter.

The only other thing that came to mind, was to seal the crack with a C-Clamp and some JB Weld, and then put a metal plate over it to reinforce it. However, I was thinking of putting the metal plate on the outside, as a local guy is offering laser engraving on any metal things, for about $15 for simple text, or $35 for a picture.

This is styrene plastic from a G&P kit, the best thing is to deffo re-enforce it from behind, My best offer would for you to re-enforce it, super glue it from be-hind and then add a small amount of P38, and when i mean small amount i mean small amount because that stuff sets like, that stuff basically. Then sand it easily down and re-spary your shrouds OD green or see ANDY_2_COOL and see if he has anymore tine of brown bess leftover.

If not, see if you can re-enforce it, superglue it from behind and then try and seal it. Once plastic is broken sadly the materials or structure is bent and doomed. So you may have to fill it. I would know since that many times i've re-paired my G&P kit and Film Models.

At this point you may want to ask someone who is good with styrene, Ask SPATMAN or MATSUO.

looks like a re-enforce and sealer job to me Fox.

personally i'd reinforce the back glue it and maybe a lil bit of filler to fill it in and sand it down

It would look all wrong with something stuck to the outside. I think Vito's right, you're not going to be able to escape without a little filler. Usually takes a bit to stop the repaired area from showing through so a complete respray would cover the spot and match with the rest of the shroud nicely.

Thanks guys. We'll see what happens. I filed the UPS claim already, so I still need to take it over to the UPS Store (there ain't no way in Hell I'm letting them pick it up). After they refuse to pay me back for my insured package (because I know they love to weasel out of insured package payments), I'll get to work on the repairs.

Well, you'll need to take the shroud off the gun first.

The material is a nylon fiber blend.

Bugstomper's suggestion is the best for this type of repair.

I only suggest using Plastruct T-beams on the inside for

extra structural support. Here's a pict:



Red arrows point to T-beams I used. ( I put a more accurate back end on my shroud)

Blue arrows point to rectangular stock that I put in to eliminate the handle creak noises.



Your Home depot or hobby store will have the glue you are looking for.

Man, they must have really dropped it for that shroud to break.

Two words .. Bon-Do.

Have done similar repairs to other plastic items I would suggest you follow what bugstomper suggested.
To hide the crack on the outside of the shroud, use a filler to fill in the crack then sand down the entire shroud and give it a lick of paint.

What is the best color to match the G&P shroud?

I'll end up painting the entire shroud, far easier than trying to find the closest match; and more than likely much nicer.
