The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

You would probably be better off not bidding on this. It appears to be an old Star Arms rifle (or recast of) and as such is barely worth £80, never mind the £800 starting price.

If the seller's backstory is honest, then they've been sorely misinformed. I don't believe this item has ever been anywhere near a film set.

They also have on sale a 'True Grenade'*. And this one seems to have picked up a 'CoA' from 'Starbase Alpha'. Starbase Alpha must know the film better than we do.

*humorous nickname given to these still-unidentified pieces of rusty iron on this board a few years ago

Looks shady. I laughed when he mentioned he has some muscled friends to help guard it while at cons.

Boy those pics certainly are craptastic aren't they. You would think for the asking price he could take some without the use of his cellphone.

Couldn't tell for sure if it is a Star Arms kit- (although the D shaped section around the stock is a bit of a giveaway). The maker did a pretty good job of hiding the seamline between the carry handle and the rest of the shroud. If it is the PR isn't worth 50 bucks.

Actually looking closely it does indeed look like a Star Arms kit- the little piece that connects the SPAS cage to the front of the magazine well (forward of where the GL trigger would be) is rounded- another sure sign.

STAY AWAY!

Even from the poor and crappy pictures you can see its a Star arms kit... ( did i actually have one of these kits once? )
After i stopped laughing at his spelling mistakes on his selling of the grenade.. i'm wondering if he is such fan and is on another Alien related site.. why no one has pointed out he has been conned , if his back story is true.

His feedback history shows two other PRs he's sold, one sounding like a G&P and one on old Spulse (he even mentions Spatcave for buying an LED for it), all apparently used as stunt weapons in the film.

We tried to tell him that Aliens was filmed in England, but he said "not all of it", followed by "where did you read that?"

Some people you just can't help. :|

This is interesting......very interesting indeed.

If someone buys this thinking its an actual 'used' prop I don't want the website attached to its description at all.
I've requested a copy of the 'authentication' they state I gave from the seller and reported the item as stating false credit.
We'll see how this pans out!!

That's just sad!
Buy it now price, in Cancuk $$$ is $5,496.52!!! Does the gun come with crack? Because you would have to be using to buy that!
I would rather get some sweet armor built by Mr. English for that kind of coin.

This is not to bad mouth the seller, but simply to keep people informed of his response.

Seller Response:
the authentication is from the prop master as previously mentioned . the charter have confirmed to me previously that it looks like a real stunt...big diffenrence.

This auction is clearly falsifying the Pulse Rifle as 'screen used' when the seller has nothing to back it up.
I'm informing him as to why I reported him and that I have given no such 'confirmation' as stated.
What kind of 'weight' do I hold in the fan community anyway????
It's a badly made 'kit' that he is misrepresenting as 'used in the making of the movie' and I don't want the schmuck who buys it for $800+ coming back to me complaining.

well thats intereting and shocking if your telling th truth to me... i spoke to someone there about two years ago for advise about weither to buy th piece or not from the guy here in th uk regardign authenticity and i evevben managed to send photos. it must of been june or july two years ago.... secopndly im dissapointed in you for not explaining th esituation to me instead of falsly reporting the piece to ebay making out im trying to sell something that is not the genuine article delibrately.. i do have a cert from the prop master and im going to be trying to contact the dealer i bought this from tomorrow morning ( as its night here now) to find out what the hell is going on with it.. im only placing the benefit of the doubt with you becuyase if you run the charter you should know your stuff... thirdly .. i have removed the section about your authentication from my ad ..altho i will seek out the email i was sent.. it was sent to my work addy back then but i kept copies of everythi

The item was reported for falsely stating the Charter authenticated the item as 'used'.
I did however point out the PR is not worth $800 nor would it have been 'screen used'.

I don't think he was a member here and in all honesty I don't recall telling anyone to buy a StarArms Pulse Rifle with 'authentication'. I'd love to see the e-mail though if he has it.

He's added a revision stating that the Charter does not back up that it is authentic, and that he can no longer guarantee that is was used in the film.

Sounds like he just got conned.

I recognise that chap.... Just looked at his Profile photo on eBay and I've seen him at a show somewhere.....

He is on the Colonial Marine Charter, under the UK section - Stephen "Spikey" Marley. Maybe we can help him get a refund from whichever prop shop provided this CoA?

If I recall he was looking to work at the new Alien War......that was a few years ago now.

But yeah....I just got another reply and he's rather upset he may have been conned.

I'd be interested to hear who sold him this and told him it was original. Unfortunately though this happens far too often; people buy something first, often for a lot of cash, then do their research later and end up disappointed.

In this case he trusted the seller so much he didn't even bother to check it out and we had to do the research for him.

Of course the down-side to researching something first is that you have to tell people it's out there and risk them snapping it up if it is real. A fellow collector recently found an Aliens prop on eBay and contacted an established prop dealership to authenticate it. They snapped it up before the auction finished I think and sold it to another collector who then contacted me to authenticate it. Needless to say the original 'finder' wasn't happy at all.

This reminds me of a guy I met at my first D-Con in 2003. I was in my armour and we were discussing the movie. He then went on to tell me how he acquired an "authentic" grenade from the movie set.

I asked him how much he spent for it- he wouldn't tell me (one of those "too much to openly discuss" moments). But he was gushing about it being one of the grenades used in the film itself.

He knew it was the real deal because of the "M-40" engraved on the bottom of the grenade around the brass primer.

I really wanted to tell him... but I couldn't bring myself to do it. :(

Sorry guys I don't really want to disclose that as it would implicate the wrong-doers and that's not what my story set out to do, it was just an example of what can happen sometimes.
