I know the new material added to the director's cut, that's pretty obvious. But I can't really think of what was cut from the original version to make the directors cut? I could always re-watch, but just haven't had the time. Anyone?

Wasn't the part where Ripley says to Ash that she had decoded part of the signal beacon (and that it was a warning) snipped?

A convo between Ripley and Dallas about Ash was dropped, and the lengthy landing scene was trimmed up a bit. I don't recall what else.

I might rip both versions to my computer and play them side by side to really figure out what was removed. Then I might just make my own version adding those bits back in to the director's cut. Don't know though yet? As much as I like the scene of the cocooned Dallas, it just really doesn't work within the whole context of the Alien series. So doing a cut adding in the removed footage to the director's cut and removing the cocoon scene might be a nice version. I'll have to really see if it makes that much of a difference though.
