The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Was contacted by an online resource for embroidered USCM and Aliens patches.

What caught me eye was the following:

Image

3 styles of the Screaming Eagle.
Standard, Subdued and Desert style.

I don't believe there is a source for all the kinds of patches, only the most common.
These guys have them all down to the 2nd Dropship logo and the Caterpillar Power Loader patch.

I have a set of the 3 Screaming Eagles coming.

Aliens Patches
They aren't silk screened, but they look nice.

Ohhhh I'm lovin' that desert version!

I'm ordering a set! :D

Great find Tony!

Honestly silk screened might be screen accurate- but embroidered would be more duarble methinks.

Question for folks.

These are some mighty fine patches. I been thinking about getting a set and while I do have the printed.

Thinking on going with velcro to attach both sets and wondering if there is a source for say 8x11 sheets of velro instead of just the tape, and where one can get olive velcro all i can seem to find is white or black, and really think the way to go would be olive or even tan.

Any clues where to find?

Thanks for the link Tony, cool patches. I'd be interested to find out what the patch sizes are though, are they accurate or oversized like all the other embroidered ones out there.

Cheers

There is a space in the url, so maybe your browser doesn't like those? :?

I don't know what to say, but a little biter..

The regular one is probably the best embroidered one
available.

The desert one is okay, the other one is total barf.

The problem with embroidered is that you can't get the
detail, and you have patches that are way out of scale.
(delta+sulaco are the worst)

The patch market is way overflooded now, I kind of wish I didn't
do them for my lady to help her through school. Oh well.

This is the second time I posted something on another forum

and got bit. Oh well. No biggie. The American way.

Mike,

You can get 4 in OD velcro easily.

Here's a topic on the rpf with a few sources:

I asked about the patch size for the rocker and sadly it is the larger version.
They did let me know however that they are reworking the size of it to be more accurate. I gave them the eisze of mine and they were thankful.
I have no idea on the sizes for the others so if you can let me know I can pass on the details.

They were open to the new size I gave them so I think they'd like the new sizes on the others too.

Hey Guys

Its Karen from PatchesNPIns.

Thanks for the comments.

The Aliens patches we stock are generally the same as everyone else stocks. However we are aware that the patches available are not correct in detail or size.

We are endeavoring to correct that over the next few months, and started with the USCM eagle patch, that is as close to the original, without being printed. We also wanted to get the other 'camo' versions to run along side the standard versions. The desert one should work well with most desert camo and the original colonial marines fabric. The subdued is for those that use standard BDU's.

In the next couple of weeks we are contnuing with the Sulaco patch, which measures just under 3", and again will be available in the 3 color versions. This will be closely followed by the Delta and a version of the Sulaco with the rocker combined (this will make it cheaper than buying 2 separate patches)

Lastly, we are doing the 'USCM' nametag. We are currently trying to locate a wholesale supplier of the blank nametape.

Thanks

karen

Awesome stuff.

I can say that this company puts out a quality product. I have and have seen a few pieces by them and I'm duly impressed.

Karen...

You came to the right place! 8)

Got some ideas brewing already for those desert versions. Like going on a tan short sleeved dress shirt.

Welcome aboard!

Nice, very nice!!

Now you're tempting me to do a desert camo armor / bdu variant!

:D :D

Welcome to the forum Karen, glad to have you here!

We're doing a Dress Blues USCM uniform and have been talking about various patches for it, one being the Colonial Marines rocker, but instead of curving upwards like the film, could one be made that curves down, for use on the shoulders?

Thanks much!

Hey Guys

Thanks for the welcome.

We are huge Aliens fans and have wanted to get these patches produced for ages.

We aim to produce as accurate patches as possible, and it annoys us that so many are produced, that aren't. It just needs a little extra work with the artwork after all.

We are open to thoughts on other patches not yet produced, or even if other camo versions would be worth doing, dependant on interest. i.e. SWAT, Urban, Russian etc

So any ideas, let us know.

thanks again

Karen

Hey all... I just received these 3 patches in the mail and I will step up to say they are PHENOMENAL.

By far the best patches I have, and I've bought my share of duds off of the 'bay.

Awesome stuff!

Well my patches arrived in the mail today (faster than I expected actually!)...

THEY ARE OUTSTANDING!!!!! :D :D

Pictures will absolutely not do them justice! You have to see a set in person to appreciate just how good they are!

Here are some pics anyway! :D

Image

While I was on the fence about the subdued version- it is pretty freakin' cool. The one that looks like the screen accurate one is the best of the three.

Now it is however not the screen accurate size; it's much larger than its silk-screened accurate counterpart:

Image

But on the other hand- it totally blows away the current commercially available embroidered Eagle patch:

Image

The artwork is simply better. The lines are crisper, the colours are much richer and are the accurate colours (for instance that light teal colour around the USCM letters and moon as opposed to the steel/gray of the more common patch). The embroidery work is a tighter knit- there are no "gaps" allowing you to see through the artwork to the black base.

One more thing (kinda hard to explain)- on the more common patch, the black background of space is the base of the patch itself. The stars are raised: sewn on top of the black background.

The Patchesnpins Eagle has the black "space" part as part of the embroidery work itself! The stars are now flush with the black "space" because it is all embroidered! I can't begin to tell you how impressive this work is! :D

Two thumbs up!
