Looking at the slot on left of the lock the shape and absence of an eject button make me wonder if it is one of the now long defunct 3 inch (as opposed to 3.5 inch) Floppy disc drives? The one that took discs like this?  Also has anyone else noticed that some of the markings on the calculator keys are different on the 2 locks shown? |

I'm currently using a typical 3.5" floppy face plate as the main point of reference for dimensions, etc. There are several notable differences, as you can tell. I've got screen captures of a few more locker plates. It seams that there are subtle differences in each one of them. Haven't been able to find any vintage calculators with some of these particular markings. ...and believe me, last year, I sifted through thousands of images of vintage/collectable calculators. That's not to say, someone else other than myself, might id it. It would be nice.

Looking great Tom. Any plans on adding floppy or calculator parts e.g. the LCD display? What dimensions has your locker widget? Would be interesting to get the dimensions of the locker (front). |

Thanks, 577_ops!! Thought I should post this over here to raise awareness for those that might be interested. I realize that it has been a while and the calculator has been identified. Also, the graphics on the buttons have been modified and each of the control panels that I've seen have slight variances between them. For my needs, going with an idealized version of the control panel suites just fine and since several duplicates of this are needed, keeping costs to a minimum makes me happy. So it is safe to assert that this could be called a "stunt" version of the control panel but still quite an effective display piece. Please be sure to view the short video HERE before proceeding.  As mentioned earlier, I began with the study of several screen captures. Wierzbowski's locker appeared to be among the cleanest of them all. With this, I created line art that represents what I felt were some of the most important features of the part. For some reason, the forum is not letting me post several images with commentary at once so I may have to simply insert them in individual posts. Stay tuned... |

 With the line art isolated, I went forward with a basic study of dimensions to ensure that everything made physical sense. If you ever find yourself presented with the challenge of actually scratch building this thing, you will understand what I mean by that. I am guessing that the floppy port may have been a much older faceplate than the 3.5" discs that may not have been available at the time of filming. |

 After my initial study, I went forward with a piece that possessed a much higher level of precision. Shown in the upper left of this image is a wing hinge kit that I am developing for the Hasbro 30" X Wing fighter. A demonstration of that is scheduled for a different thread. |

 Also, it was decided to go with a sort of standard size opening for the LCD display that will accommodate an assortment of salvaged calculators. Here, the grid mesh material is being attached to the master sculpt. |
