Hmmm. I'd have to say price. But I agree that it is a bit of both- the high prices being a result of its rarity.

I paid $285US for mine last year. It was actually in pretty decent shape with no cracks and only one small scratch. However the foam bits had gone bad and were like little pieces of black tar throughout the inside of the helmet. Took me forever to clean it!

Question on the dropship helmet. I don't see a lot of them being made. Is this because of the lack of SPH4s. Or, is it because of the price of the SPH4s that are out there? Just curious as I may have a line on a few them. Thanks guys

Think it's a combination of both. I've asked around a few places I've been to recently and only a couple even knew what they were!!

I've found a local Surplus that has a few sitting around. Problem is he knows exactly what they are. So, I expect they may be quite pricey.

Took me forever to clean it! Kevin They still pop up cheap from time to time... I managed to pick mine up for about $100 on the Bay. It was in good shape, but also had the same issue with the foam.

God yes! That type of foam perishes into the nastiest muck!
