while I've yet to go on any drops (other then the 34 simulated :P ), I don't think it matters much, I've seen a variety of camo patterns in pictures from various drops, and according to the USCM manual they also use the old woodland camo along with the pattern used in the movie, so I think you're good to go marine.

Yes it matters.

We have "allowed" some latitude when it comes to BDUs. However it has really gotten out of control as of late. The rule of thumb is that BDUs should be made using the same bolts of material that were used in the film. Yes we are well aware that the pattern was 100% custom made.

When the original bolts of material were used up the only acceptable alternative was the MAA 2PAT or 3PAT in cotton only. They should be washed several times to achieve the correct weathered look of the BDUs seen on screen.

If someone wants to troop with us we turn a blind eye to the new member who doesn't have a set of MAA's 3PAT BDUs. We allow it as a "temporary fix" until a correct set of BDUs can be obtained.

Things really started to slide when one of the Marines wore "banana" yellow camouflage to a convention. No one said anything thinking it would be the only time we would have to deal with this level of embarrassment. Unfortunately it became a trend.

Wrong camo, all black armour, made up ranks, EU weapons (Was there a bazooka in the film? No? I didn't think so. )... The list goes on and on.

One time some guy wore a straw cowboy hat! A freakin' cowboy hat!

Yes, it's true... and some of you might recognize him. ;)

However if you ask me, every platoon should have a cowboy. Especially one who knows enough to wear a screen-accurate Racal headset. Nice job Adonis! 8)

Now about that guy with the bazooka thing...

Seriously Vito - The UKCM don't really enforce precise Screen Accuracy.
Looking as close as you can manage is appreciated, but they don't get upset if you're not 100% on the mark.

Just don't go Banana Yellow!!

What? I can't think of anyone who would do ANY of those things. Much less all of them.

Kev, I know I gag when I read one.

The BDUs I have are called "Stinger Yellow", from what I understand they are now a difficult item to find.

To put into context the yellow BDUs, you need to be familiar with the "Flying Bananas"

Now, just because we let you get away from using all screen accurate colors, bdus and such doesn't mean you should
throw the idea to the wind. The farther we get away from the original look, the more often we'll get the "Hey look, it's GI Joe"
callouts.

The UK lads are a good example of how to do it well.

As someone has already said, (and I'll paraphrase...) use what you have, and upgrade when you can.
We won't excluse anyone, but the first person to show up wearing a rainbow clown wig and red nose...
we'll have words. :( ;)

Try and keep to the general "feel" of the Alien(s) universe and you'll be fine.

However, Sgt Dom... we need to have a talk with the requisitions officer about your BDUs. ;)

(I kid. :) )

At a con I went to recently, everyone and their mother thought I was from Halo. :?

I'm beginning to wish I'd done things slightly differently, but I'm so far comitted at this point, it'd be insanely expensive to try and lean toward another path.

I was on chat last night with Mike and EagleSkull, and we talked about the adjustments I want to make to my armor once I get it.

I am prolly going to go with Vietnam Tiger and paint my armor accordingly, Im also going to adjust the chest, back and groin armor and the ab pad thingie a bit to be more comfy on a me. all the goodies and such will be standard, but I do believe the camo pattern that is canon is really fracking ugly.

and no... Im not really gonna wear my pink cowboy hat... it would sooooo clash with the tigers!!
