The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Never seen shots of the actual model before, and its pretty nifty.
Looks to be a simple build too, being by the look of it racing car kits for the body and helecopter tails for the rear.
Thinking of having a go at building one - not 100% accurate as i doubt very much i'd be able to get the exact parts, more a riff on the design.

Brilliant site this for any hardware fan/modeller, loads of shots of the Betty too.
Came across it via Skiffy over on the Eagle Forum site.
Thanks Skiffy.

interesting how that make these. Looking at the betty from Alien res, it's just amazing how they create it from nothing. That is a craft I would like to learn.

Is it foam core with some kind of coating?

I thought that shuttle seen in the gateway scene was the one they already used in Terminator?

I recognise the car but have no idea what it is. I've got a diecast model of one somewhere...

The verticle fin appears to be a [not 100% accurate] Tornado F3 fin.
I'd say the larger helicopter tail (the split part that forms the main sides of the rear is a Bell 202 or 212. Not sure about the two smaller "inner tail fins" that sit on top of the main tails.

I seem to recall seeing a build thread for this model on another forum.

Seems its a Porsche 956 for the body, indeed a Tornado tail, also a Cobra tail - and various Macross parts.

Porsche 956 - having just checked that's the one I was picturing. Wouldn't have known it was a Porsche.

I'm not convinced it's a Cobra tail. Although there were several variations on the tail design and a few had the required cut angle at the top they seem to look sleeker. I still think that could be a UH-1 tail.

Looking closer, the little tails could be from a Westland Wessex (or an S-58 'Choctaw' in the US).

I stand corrected, the Tornado tail is from a GR1, not an F3. That was a schoolboy error.

Didn't get a PM.

Do you have picts from the underside? I have a bunch of Model kits from my DS helmet build, and there might be some more bits.

I used to think so as well, could never decide between that and the dropship.
I think it's the tailfin design that makes it look like an HK.

Looks like the vertical tail could be from a Panavia Tornado?

Anybody know where it is located?

I just remember the RPF thread saying there was a lot of

detail on the underside.

Already spotted - from a GR1 kit. :)

I'm glad people can dissect stuff like this. I am pants at it. :\
