The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey everybody, I'm a new member, though I've lurked this forum for quite a while. I have to say, you all have created a fantastic resource for Aliens-related information! Truly awesome.

I'm a former army aviator and it's not a stretch to think that seeing the Cheyenne dropship in 1986 definitely had a formative effect on my army career back in the day.

Currently I'm working on putting together a dropship pilot uniform (big stretch there, right?). The Mk11 flight suit is about as hard to find as the old Nostromo G4B's, so I ended up getting a Mk14. I might trim down the collar to match the Mk11 and swap the velcro waist straps.

As a random idea, has anyone ever tried commissioning a USCM camo flight suit? Could be cool...sorta like the tiger stripe flight suits they sourced locally in Vietnam.

Hello everyone!

I'm a newcomer member to the forum, but I've been aware of it for sometime ever since I started making serious work into putting together my own USCM kit starting with obtaining a M41A Pulse Rifle.

I am a big fan of both the Aliens and Predator series, with involvement in many conventions that have happened in Western Australia and attended conventions right around the country (even little Ai-Con in Tasmania). It's only been in the last few years that I've had the capital to seriously work on my USCM kit because I wanted to go the whole hog on this: Sean's interview at PAX East 2012 I credit the most to pushing my plans into overdrive once I got the income to do it.

So far with my work I have based it on Private Tim Crowe and Corporal Dwayne Hicks with some personal choice flair. This is what I have to date:
* M41A Pulse Rifle from Hollywood Collectable Group ("Brown Bess" standard edition, #383 of 1000)
* M1911A pistol with wooden grip from Denix
* Canadian Browning Hi-Power pistol from Denix
* Yang Kai Rifle Shotgun (airsoft/water common shots)
* US Army hip holster, belt and two-magazine pouch (Vietnam war era, bought it from a retired soldier; using it for the M1911A)
* US Army helicopter pilot shoulder holster (Vietnam war era, bought it from a retired soldier; even had field repairs; using it for the Browning Hi-Power)
* USCM Military patches (official, from Aliens: Colonial Marines)
* US army pants, correct forest camouflage style (army surplus)
* Panasonic WiFi digital video camera with night vision to fit into the "Pentax" camera cover so I have a working video I can live stream/webcast
* Two GoPro cameras to eventually put on the armor
* Motion Tracker software to use on a portable device for my motion tracker prop (under construction)

With work in progress being:
* Working motion tracker with sound (hell of a time finding the right drill to use as the frame, even with dumpster diving/landfill hunting, so I'm using a wrecked Hitachi VTP-13A impact drill)
* Leather shoulder holster for the shotgun (outsourcing)
* Life monitor overlay software to use with my Panasonic WiFi digital video camera (experimenting with an LG Lifeband Touch; may change sync device) for the live stream/webcast

And still to obtain:
* US Army helmet with correct forest camouflage style (negotiating to buy it)
* Pentax helmet camera cover (need to build it due to Panasonic custom job I'm going to try)
* USCM armor (need to build or outsource; I want it to be armor-grade and am prepared to pay for it)
* Army shirt (easy enough to get on surplus)
* Frost's shirt (easy enough to get as a replica)
* Army boots (easy enough to get on surplus)
* Racal Amplivox Minilites headset (probably have to settle for a replica if I can't fluke one tucked away at a call centre somewhere...)
* Shoulder lamp (need to build)
* Grenades (need to build, might skip)
* Torch-Welder (need to build, might skip)

For the pistols I really wanted to stay true to the movie and get a Smith & Wesson 39 (Vasquez's pistol from Aliens of course), but I've had a hell of a time doing it in Australia due to our gun control laws. I'm confident with my connections I'll get a deactivated one eventually (or get my gun permits), but if I don't succeed at least I have the Denix pistols.

For the shotgun the Yang Kai Rifle Shotgun is the closest "convention safe" match I've found to the Ithaca 37 that Hicks used, but I'll need to cut down the barrel length to be more accurate. And since my "Brown Bess" isn't "convention safe", eventually I'll have to cough up for one of the recently released Aliens Stunt Pulse Rifle from HCG.

My aim is to eventually get this finished and go for the most accurate USCM kit in the southern hemisphere. Lofty goal? Sure, but I figured since I've already committed so much money to this pet project I might as well go all the way. I'm already working on rebuilding an Aliens vs Predator Arcade 3-player "Big Blue" cabinet from scratch so it's 1-1 accurate after scoring an August 1994 release of the CPS2 board and game unit to go with my Atari Jaguar mint-condition copy of Alien vs Predator... along with the rest of my Alien/Predator collection. Heck, I'd stick Billy's knife from Predator on my armor if I could get away with it.

And when I'm done I'll take it to the outside of a convention to show off a little but there isn't a chance in hell they'd let me in with the metal weaponry. :D

Hi everyone!

My name is Radek and I'm from Poland.
I've always been a fan of the Aliens films and the universe in general, especially the USCM caught my attention as I'm a military geek. :D

Only recently I made my mind to do a impression od a USCM soldier - so the loong process of collecting and crafing all the stuff only begins for me.

As I am a reenactor I hope my experience in some handcrafts, sewing etc may come in handy :D

Thanks for acceptance!

You can request a service number here:
http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5925

Check the first post and "add reply" with your details for (a) - (f) mentioned in the first post.
You can do that prior having BDU & patches or when you a recognizable uniform.

Hello I'm David in South Louisiana, most of the world knows me asDewka , and I know Scribbles from further up the forum posts. I have ever so slowly been working on getting my Marine gear together, sending Spat chunks of my overtime paychecks as they come in.
We already have a couple of Marines in La, but I don't know if they are on the boards here.

I've been costuming with the 501st since 2008, and with the Rebel Legion since 2012. I have slowed down and only average 10 events a year now not including conventions. We do a lot of the conventions in the south because my wife is a vendor. I've had the opportunity to speak with several of you at DragonCon in the past, and a couple of weeks ago my armor set arrived.

So far I have my armor ,my helmet ,my rifle kit and upgraded LED countdown counter __it works when you pull the trigger_ my pistol, several smaller parts and probably the last tins of brown bess paint to be had. The next major purchase for me will be the BDUs from Spat.

I'm a big guy and I was shocked when I put my armor on...it fit FAR better then I expected that it would. I was even able to walk around the house and do my housework while wearing it. That is certainly something I'm not able to do wearing my Star Wars armor!

The calves do not fit me because I have big legs but that will change eventually and restrapping something is no problem whatsoever. I have been watching eBay for a good condition affordable helmet liner. I wore the same helmet in the army in the pre- Kpot days, so that would feel "normal".

Glad to be here, and looking forward to further assignment.

Hi everyone, my name is Mat I live in Ottawa and brand new to the forum and only started costuming in 2015.

I've always loved the Aliens franchise and next year I plan on doing a colonial marine for Dragon Con.

I don't have any armour or anything but actively searching so I can be ready for next year, and plan on building on every year after.

Gday folks, Christian from Tasmania, Australia here.

Long time lurker here on the forum. I've been busy with my other prop loves, trooping as Darth Vader and finally finishing my LifeSize of Arnold from Terminator II. So....now I can redirect my efforts back here...

A few of my fellow 501st legion buddies and I have decided to put together a marine group and since that coincides with my desire to build a "Hudson" for my cinema room here I am again.

Thus far I've started small. Sourced the correct bolo tie, Pentax lens and correct soled combat boots. Also commissions Chef to make me a steel helmet. Armour will come next year at tax time lol until then I'll keep plugging away. I do have a pot of real Brown Bess so that's handy lol Now I'm searching for a decent replica of the Seiko.

Great to be back.

My name is Tee Jay and im a brand new Rookie in this community as of this past few months. I built a set of foam USCM armor out of EVA mats and such. A helmet made from toy parts and some clay i sculpted with a foam lobster tail. Like most i own a Snow Wolf Pulse Rifle which i repainted and disabled. My first USCM costume was made entirely for fun and for 1 time use at a convention party. I wore it again recently for Halloween (2016) and now i got bit by the bug and want to take USCM prop and costume making serious.

Ive been a part of the Ghostbuster community for many many years. Ive built proton packs and props from the films, comics, and cartoons, including building an Ecto-1 that i drive daily. I decided to step out of the GB community because its just not the same community as it once was long ago. I've actually sold my proton pack and some props and im about to take the money to buy parts to build USCM props and a proper Marine costume. Eventually Im going to end up just ordering the armor set from Spat and i cannot wait any longer. My resin Pulse Rifle kit from Spat should be coming in the mail this month and im very excited to get my hands dirty.

With the buzz about a new Alien film in 2017, along with possibly another film after that. What better time than to start now. having a complete set of USCM Armor and props has been a dream of mine since i was 9 years old.

Not only a fan of each film, but im a huge fan of the comics and actually a really big fan of the Colonial Marines game and fan films.

First, sorry for my bad English... :-)

My real name is Kevin and I live by Frankfurt a.M., Germany.
I'm an Alien Fan for almost 25 Years, but I dont have many
Props, just some models, (Sulaco, Nostromo, APC), some
Grenades, M-41 Manual and Poster from Baena..,
Some comics for sure, the leading edge board game....,
and somewhere I still have an glasfibre Armor, I think its an
Copy from Dietrichs Armor.
And of course, an M-41..., still unbuild, its one from
Monster in Motion from 2004, and an real steel Pulse Rifle,
also in work right now, because not much money and not much
time for it..., but hey, good thinks will need time... ;-)

But I think I will find all help I need here... Thanks for your time...

Greetings, Kevin
